What evidence is there for this? Also, if you mark Ash's Journey on a map, it makes more sense for it to be betweeen Bound for Trouble and Charizard Chills.

::^Bingo. Charizard listens to Ash during this movie. It only makes it logical to take place after Charizard Chills, regardless of what path makes more sense. --<font color="blue">Hoenn</font><font color="green">Master</font> 17:01, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
:::Actually, another user has raised some good points regarding Charizard (specifically the first point);

:::Point 1: If you watch during the intro the trio decides to release their Pokemon for some fresh air before they reach their destination. This was ultimately a plot device to allow them to showcase the Pokemon, yet if you watch closely, when Ash releases Charizard he shoots a flame in all directions and Ash and Misty both freak out right before Ash recalls Charizard. This is a familiar scenario played out over and over again throughout the Anime prior to Charizard Chills. Frequently Ash would call Charizard, he would immediately shoot a flame thrower (often at Ash) then Ash would think twice and recall him.

:::Point 2: Charizard has shown that he would do things that benefit Ash, if Charizard wants to. The most obvious example being defeating Magmar and enabling Ash to win the Volcano badge for the Indigo League. On top of that, as has been noted, all of the Pokemon were converging to try and help stop the world catastrophe if they could. I believe it is clear that it is for this reason that Charizard seems more helpful then would be expected prior to Charizard Chills.

:::Point 3: I could be wrong on this one, but I'm pretty sure that Ash never once commands Charizard to do anything (at least not on screen). There are two points where Charizard preforms a helpful act: 1) Charizard is released simultaneously with Squirtle and Bulbasaur. All 3 of them (plus Pikachu) try to break Moltres free, but Ash never actually asked any of them to do anything but to "go". 2) The second act is pulling Ash's sleigh, where once again no command was given. Ash looks at the wrecked boat, then suddenly they are already moving quickly. Obviously Charizard must have been cooperative or Ash would have never gotten a rope tied around him, but still we never directly see him "obeying Ash" which is what Charizard never once did prior to Charizard Chills.

::::Even though i really support the "betweeen Bound for Trouble and Charizard Chills" route, these two routes below is possible too. -Pokeant 10:29, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
:::::OK, but what reasons would there be for it to take place in either of those orders? <small><span style="color:white; background-color:#007FFF">X</span><span style="color:#007FFF; background-color:white">Vuvuzela2010</span><span style="color:white; background-color:#007FFF">X</span></small> 10:40, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
::::::Well actually no. but if it is really after charizard chills, picture 1 would not make any sense. this two routes makes more sense for it to take place after charizard chills in my opinion. so there is no reason actually... -Pokeant 12:32, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
:::::::I don't want to sound rude, but you can stop making up those maps because Location doesn't have much do with movies at all. A few movies have taken place far away from where Ash should be in the anime (Movie 1, Movie 5, Movie 6, Movie 9). So the route Ash took through the Orange Islands has nothing to do with where the movie takes place. It doesn't matter that Ash didn't give Charizard an official command. It helped Ash twice in a short amount of time, that's something it never did. And it shot fire in random directions even after it started to obey Ash. Not as much, but it still did on some occasions. --<font color="blue">Hoenn</font><font color="green">Master</font> 17:00, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Name of the Elder
The name of the elder (the guy with the mustache who tells the prophecy) isn't revealed in the movie. However, in the Pokémon the Movie 2000 Trading Cards published by Topps, he is named "Tobias." I found pictures of all the cards from that set (I can provide the link, but I wasn't sure if there might be some legal issues... about a non-official site posting pictures of the cards...?). Is this enough to start a new "Tobias (Orange Islands)" article, or should I just add it as trivia in this article? Bulbajer 01:59, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
:If you don't want to provide the link, email it to me or another staff member so we can verify this. &mdash;<span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="color:#000">darklord</span><span style="color:#0047AB">trom</span></span> 02:24, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
::It's okay, I just wasn't sure if I was allowed to. I searched for the site on this wiki and found one result, so I'm assuming it's ok. Bulbajer 17:19, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
::Specifically, it's this card: Bulbajer 17:20, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
:::Yeah, I also recall him being called Tobias in some Polish DVD material. --Maxim 17:27, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
::::Awesome. Make sure to include in the article where his name was sourced from, since it wasn't mentioned in the movie. &mdash;<span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="color:#000">darklord</span><span style="color:#0047AB">trom</span></span> 22:44, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Early promotional art?
I was just wandering on the internet when I found this. As you can see, Articuno's tail was much longer, there were some mayan looking buildings, Lawrence's Palace was different and Melody didn't played an ocarina. Can we consider this artwork legit? --Gabo 2oo (talk) 19:38, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

"Krabbys"
In the Errors section it mentions that Meren refers to multiple Krabby as Krabbys. While normally this could be seen as a mistake, it seems more like she's telling a joke. The full line said by Maren is "And she said, 'No, but I have Krabbys'." Seems more like a joke about STDs than the plural being wrong.Ultramadscientist
:That is the joke, but Pokémon are also not pluralized with an -s. Ignoring in-world rules for the sake of a joke is indeed an error on the writers' part. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 20:08, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

:I don't know what part of the movie, but it's in the Japanese version only. Voila. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:38, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Slowking's Day
:There's also the obvious fact that Charizard listens to Ash in the movie, which means that it has to have come after Charizard Chills.
In this article for the movie it says that "Slowking's Day" was released alongside the movie in Japan. However, the article for Slowking's Day itself says it was first shown on January 1, 2000. Surely only one of these can be correct? The Slowking's Day article also says that it was "intended" to be an extra for this movie, implying that this plan was not ultimately carried out, which again would contradict this movie article. Do we have any official sources on this and can update either this article or the Slowking's Day article? Kidburla (talk) 01:37, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
