Height comparisons

Alright, crazy idea here... would it be possible to somehow add height comparisons akin to the ones in the games to the wiki? I ask because many people don't understand the way height applies to snake- or fish-like Pokémon: It represents the length, rather than having Arbok the same height as Groudon in a hypothetical lineup. I have a vague idea, but I don't know which images would work best—pretty much all images of snake Pokémon, the ones which cause the most confusion, have them coiled up, and thus practically unmeasurable. Here's what I'm thinking:

This is with 100 pixels reflecting 1 meter of height. Bulbasaur is used for comparison seeing as it's the wiki's mascot. Obviously it would need to be refined, and I'm not sure where or how it should be implemented, but it seems like a good idea. --AndyPKMN 22:51, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Glitch Pokémon

Maybe we should add Glitch Pokémon at least somehow in this list. Or is there another article with the height/weight comparisons of Glitch Pokémon? GHOST will get you...Shadow Kyurem 12:06, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

We will not list glitch Pokémon with regular Pokémon on a page like this. I guess glitch Pokémon could have their own List of glitch Pokémon by height. --SnorlaxMonster 12:16, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

flabebe is 0.1 m

Mega Charizard and Blastoise

Their statistics are not listed, but other Megas like Sableye which share the height are listed.Trainer Yusuf (talk) 23:10, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

What happened was that Mega Sableye was added by a regular user last year. However, a separate user had already noted that Mega Absol and Ampharos both were the same height when updating the article in 2013 and excluded them at that time. Thus, it seems that Mega Sableye should be removed as it was intended for these cases to be excluded. While this would be the end of this, apparently the opinion of what to do in these cases changed by mid-2014 based on some edits on List of Pokémon by weight which added those Mega Evolutions that had the same weight as their non-Mega state. To conclude, I will be adding those cases to this article in the near future for the purpose of consistency. --Super goku (talk) 04:17, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Height for Quadrupeds

Are quadrupedal Pokemon measured head to floor (when standing), or head to rear? Glaceon, for instance, is listed as being 2'7", but if that were head to floor, it'd be really, really big, much bigger than it looks when next to human characters. Dachimotsu (talk) 17:17, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

  • It isn't really known since it varies between Pokemon, so I can't say for sure. Also, Glaceon being 2'7" isn't too farfetched for being head to floor, since the games and anime are rather inconsistent when it comes to human perspective. Ice Cream 18:33, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Gigantamax heights

Are the heights of Gigantamax Pokemon going to be included here? - unsigned comment from ElSqiubbonator (talkcontribs)

Eventually they will be. However, at the moment the official site lists them as 11.0 m+ etc., so at the moment it's not quite clear what their actual height is. Once the games are released, we'll be able to understand how to integrate Gigantamax Pokémon into the page. It's possible they have variable height, which will make things tricky. --SnorlaxMonster 03:25, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

Why is this page formatted the way it is?

I'm just curious here why this page (and the weight page) is formatted the way it is, rather than with a table (e.g. List of Pokémon by base stats (Generation VII-present))? It honestly just seems to make the page much larger than it really needs to be. TehPerson (talk) 19:15, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

And just to add, This is what I'm describing. A sortable table that can also consolidate the height and weight information. In my opinion, it's much easier to read and to find specific entries (outside of Ctrl+F). TehPerson (talk) 20:47, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
I think this proposal is a better design. The cell-based design currently used is pretty, but I don't think it's particularly practical. The only real advantage of the current layout is that it makes it much easier to tell how many Pokémon have the same height, which doesn't seem like that great of a tradeoff. --SnorlaxMonster 09:06, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
I like the "pretty" design more, but it's annoying that each big Pokemon has to have it's own group instead of what was done on the weight page. But I would also like to have a list somewhere else, maybe combined with a few more properties.--Rocket Grunt 13:20, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
The body shape could definitely be added to TehPerson's design, is what I thought, maybe even color. (Those lists are almost as impractical imo, though there's some prose.)
But even if it's not consolidated, it's still better than the current layout. Nescientist (talk) 12:58, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
I don't think we should just make a list of miscellaneous properties. Height and weight have always been closely associated in Pokémon, so "List of Pokémon by height and weight" would make sense.
Furthermore, color and body style are both categorizations, not values. They are much more suited to the current design on this page than height and weight are. --SnorlaxMonster 02:00, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
Well, my idea was that it's all physical attributes that can be seen from the Pokédex, but I see your point. Nescientist (talk) 19:26, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Eternatus Eternamax Form Height

Hey can we add Eternamax Eternatus' height to the height page if possible? I know it doesn't have an official weight like with the Gigantamax transformation. However unlike that, this form has an official height so it counts. And it doesn't have the + symbol Most Gigantamax forms have, so can it be added?--Jacob Kogan (talk) 02:41, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Minisprites

It's nice that Bulbapedia went from sprites to arts. I think this page (and one about weight) could also go through that change.--Rocket Grunt 15:47, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Page restructure

This was discussed in #Why is this page formatted the way it is?, but I want to formalize the proposed change a bit more:

I think it would be a good idea to merge this page with List of Pokémon by weight as List of Pokémon by height and weight like this draft. And simultaneously split height to be its own page (like weight).

The current page layout is designed for a categorical property, not a numerical one. --SnorlaxMonster 04:28, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

I think that would be a useful change. The end result is a good collection of pages for these topics, (the details of the specific merges, splits, and moves necessary might need a bit of planning though: I think there's a reasonable way to maintain the histories in an appropriate way without actually merging much, if anything) MaverickNate 06:33, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
In terms of page histories, my suggestion is to move this page to height and move List of Pokémon by weight to List of Pokémon by height and weight. --SnorlaxMonster 14:01, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? MasterBraixen96 (talk) 23:02, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
