I recently got a piece of trivia about Volbeat hatching from Illumise eggs reverted because "it seems unlikely". I can actually tell you that this has happened to me, though I have no evidence I can show anyone. I bred an Illumise with a Ledian, and a Volbeat hatched. :::Yes, it's true.  An {{p|Illumise}} mother can produce a {{p|Volbeat}} egg regardless of whom the father is.  The same goes for {{p|Nidoran♀}} and how it can produce a {{p|Nidoran♂}} egg.

:::However, the same does not go for {{p|Miltank}} and {{p|Tauros}}. Miltank can only produce Miltank eggs, no Tauros.  If Miltank were to be able to produce Tauros eggs, odds are they wouldn't have made Miltank available as a snag in [[Pokémon Colosseum]], a game that fixed the genders for the starter {{p|Espeon}} and {{p|Umbreon}} in order to prevent breeding for {{p|Eevee}} until [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen|FireRed & LeafGreen]] came out (the Japanese version did the same with an e-Card {{p|Scizor}}).
