Trivia

Under trivia it says, "Hypno is shown to have its pendulum in its right hand in its Red and Blue sprites. However, Hypno is holding it in its left hand in its Green front sprite and all Generation I back sprites." Shouldn't it say that Hypno is shown to hold the pendulum in its left hand in all of the sprites except for the Red (Ja) and Green versions? ~> Twim'c

It doesn't say anything now. I'm fairly certain that Hypno is able to move the pendulum around as it is not stated to be an explicit part of its body, so it doesn't make trivia. I deleted it. — THE TROM — 06:14, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Should this be mentioned?

In one of Hypno's Pokedex entries in a different language (Pretty sure it was german, but im not sure) it mentions that Hypno "Brings children and Pokemon into it's cave to be alone with them." I think that this should be noted in the article...

Looking at the German, French, and Italian dex entries, it mentions nothing in that ballpark, and I'm willing to bet the Spanish entries don't, either. So, that would be false. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 21:56, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Ancestry.

Was gonna say this in the edit reason, but I accidentaly published it before I had written it down. Anyway, regarding Drowzee’s ancestry with Munna, I also disagree that it is speculation that Hyno is somehow not decended from Munna because it is only stated for Drowzee. The best analogy I have is saying that only the larval forms of butterflies can share ancestry, which is preposterous. If one of the adults didn’t have ancestry, that would mean that the larvas neither did.--MissDelibirda (talk) 18:09, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Pokédex entries say things regarding evolved forms that don't make sense all the time. Like how Kadabra is implied to be formed from a boy with psychic powers. To imply that Abra has the same origin would be speculation. Landfish7 18:27, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
It doesn't have to make sense to you. Kadabra's entry was explained by the old Red/Green book to be a novel, and even if we didn't understand it as well, it would just mean some Kadabra was created like that.--Rocket Grunt 19:07, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
There's also Froslass who is said to have been formed when the spirit and lingering regrets of a lost woman who died in the snowy mountains possessed an icicle. To say that the same origin applies to Snorunt would be speculation. Landfish7 19:13, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Both of those examples are false analogies. Creation is not the same thing as evolution, and both involve supernatural means, which evolution is not.--MissDelibirda (talk) 19:36, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
I'd still argue that it's technically speculation. I also find it odd that we are phrasing it with certainty on this page when it is stated to be a 'belief' or 'thought' on Drowzee's page and in its Pokédex entry, respectively. Landfish7 19:48, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
If you want to focus on just ancestry, this brings in to question other Pokémon ancestries, like Omastar being the ancestor to Octillery. Is Omanyte then also an ancestor to Remoraid? I feel like this muddies the waters a bit too much. Landfish7 19:54, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
It’s difficult to say anything for certain. Pokédex entries are worded to give Pokémon some mysticism to them. You know what? I say we just revert my edit, although I hesitate to imply that I have changed my stance, -assuming that Drowzee shares ancestry with Munna- and Remoraid could have simply popped up later on.--MissDelibirda (talk) 20:02, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Don't get me wrong, I agree that logically Hypno would also be considered a relative of Munna and Musharna, but like you said, Pokédex entries are already purposefully vague and mythical, so taking these beliefs and old stories and making further inferences upon them just obscures things even more, and we don't know if Hypno could have popped up later as well. If everyone's okay with it, I'd say to go ahead and revert it, especially considering Force Fire has the final say as an admin anyway and has already reverted it twice. Landfish7 20:10, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Agreed.--MissDelibirda (talk) 20:15, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
People being able to use their noggin doesn't make things official or confirmed. It's still people speculating and theorizing. The dex entry only applies to Drowzee, so only Drowzee gets it. Game Freak could just decide, for whatever reason, that it doesn't count for Hypno.--ForceFire 05:45, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
