I found a Hex list online with RBY item values, and I found a key item called ?????, and I used GameShark to put it on my Yellow. When used, the player can surf without a Pokémon. It was likely scrapped before the game was finished. I'm not sure if you need Koga's badge or not, since I already had it, anyway. I just thought it should be mentioned. --<span style="background:#000000;">250[[User:Fsilone|<span style="color:#F0E028;">爆発

My sister's friend has a glitched-up hall of fame on her firered. I know MissingNo/'M can cause this, but I'm pretty sure she's never seen a glitch pokemon when she's played. Two questions about this: One, does MissingNo/'M show up in an frlg pokedex? And is there any other explanation for this?Arceus is the Best 17:17, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm surprised this one is missing. It only occurs very rarely, but it's really fun to look at when it does occur. As far as I know it doesn't exist in DPPt, and was introduced in RSE. It has two forms, a wild battle form, and a vs. battle form

:::::: Don't reply to old comments please. As far as I know the 'consensus' was to include Generation II, III and IV cheat only glitch Pokémon but not include (all) Generation I glitch Pokémon not including those unobtainable via the Ditto Trick (those are the ones flagged as trainers by the minus 0xC8 (index number 200 or up) process and can only be 'obtained' per se by avoiding this process as of which a method [without cheating] is not confirmed) and cannot be obtained by evolution/trade. --Chickasaurus 16:29, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

So, after Playing through FireRed a couple times and noticing that Suicune's IV's were abnormally low (as in, 0's in 4 stats and single digit for the rest), I tried grabbing a Raikou.  It had abysmal IV's as well.  Then I noticed a Latias I caught from Sapphire had IV's that were just like the Beasts, with 4-5 zeros.  Google has turned up a few discussion board posts claiming that all Roaming Legendaries in the third generation games have the same problem, with the exception of Emerald. But beyond that I haven't found anything solid. Can anyone clear this up?

I'm pretty sure because of the way those game works some IV sets are not possible for legendary Pokémon, when combined with other things such as a nature you want, you most likely will get lower IV's. This is not exactly a glitch, it is just the game's psuedo-random number generators are terrible in Gen III. OwnageMuch 03:10, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
:Nope... it's possible to get good natures/IVs on Gen III, just like any other game. However, FRLG has a particular error in the coding that prevents the roaming beasts from having any IVs over like... uuuuuh 11 or so? Something like that. I think it should be added, personally... ▫▪<span style="color:#d93f91;">Ťïňắ</span> <span style="color:#ae41d9;">♫</span><span style="color:#d941cf;">♥</span> 03:26, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
:: Well, the glitch affects all roaming legendaries in all 3rd gen. games except Emerald where it got fixed. This means Latios in Ruby, Latias in Sapphire and Raikou/Entei/Suicune in FR/LG. The glitched IVs are the result of a buggy code: only 8 out of 30 bits will be saved in the wild data upon meeting the Pokémon. This means only the HP IV will be stored correctly along with the first 3 bits of the Attack stat. The rest will be set to 0. While the IVs are stored the wrong way, the IVs are still stored correctly into a special, reserved RAM area. This means with a bit of effort and patience, one could theorically recover the proper IVs and manually fix his/her roaming Pokémon. If anyone needs more technical data, feel free to ask. ~ HackMew 15:09, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

List of glitches
I dislike it. It also means that it has to be updated every time anything is added to list of minor glitches. I suggest that either we make list of minor glitches into list of glitches and just link to that from here, or remove the minor glitches section and direct reads to list of minor glitches. :ok this is the detail i remember I was breeding Eevee so I put like a level 21 Espeon and a level 27 Ditto (may be slightly different) in the care centre below goldenrod. I then went to goldenrod cycled about the man called me I went and collected the egg. Then I went back to cycle in goldenrod (my team was a level 89 Pidgeot and level 1 Togepi if that is relevant) the guy was taking a while to call and sometimes if you go back to the day care man before he rings he has the egg anyway. So I cycled back and once I was next to him he rang me saying he had my egg. I answered the call and following the call I accidently called my mum. I was pressing b to shut her up when she told me I had 8888888 saved and if I wanted to start saving again (but I have never saved money) I said no. Collected the next egg and flew home where my mum did have the money I withdrew some and then went to the shop and it let me buy thing with no bad side effects. The game didn't crash and the eggs hatched normally. I dunno what causes glitches so I dunno what information is relevant or not. hope that helps. == Mystery zone/Real map merge!? ==

:I was fooling around on Pokemon Pearl version with my AR Walk through walls code when I decided to try going all arounnd the screen. Okey, this was an accident but I FORGOT where I was. But when I cheked the Poketch APP map I it said I was on the very edge of the screen. That's how I got the idea to try to define the edge of the map. You really can't tell if you are moving or not so I just kept going. I thought that if I went over the edge then A: game freeze. or B: I would wind up on the opposite side of the map. Well I was HALF right on B. I was back where I left the real map but everything was dark. I found out that I was back where I started was NOT the APP. It still said I was on the edge of the screen before I had looped around. I found it by stepping in a patch of grass. It still had the wild Raticate that where there when I left. Even after the battle it was still dark. Now that I am writting this I can't belive that I didn't even try Flash. In my defense, I was worried about what would happen to my game it I accidentily saved there. Does anyone know what this is?--Celibi25 15:46, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Thunderbolt sound glitch thing
I was playing Emerald and I was battling Aqua Admin Matt and this is what happened. I sent out my Weezing to battle his Golbat, and I used Thunderbolt. His Golbat still had a tiny bit of HP left so I used sludge to save Thunderbolt's PP. He healed his Golbat though, but I still did some damage. Then I finished it off with another Thunderbolt, but right when the black circle with the electricity around it appeared, the noise it made kept repeating over and over again. It was still there when the battle was over, and when I left the Aqua Hideout, it was still there. Even when I got into another battle the shocking noise was still there. It left after I saved the game and turned it off and on. Any reasons why my sound went crazy? (It was there with and without headphones). --<span style="color:green">"FiMbUlWiNtEr2O|2"</span> 02:08, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Pokemon Yellow Glitch
I found a glitch in Pokemon Yellow. The glitch works like the ?????????? glitch. Using a wild Pokemon modifier code for a Pokemon that doesn't exist, the next wild Pokemon encounter will be a Pokemon that looks like a larger version of Missingno. The game then freezes (doing no damage to the game itself) with vertical blue lines.

Sketch Glitch
From the fourth post down on here

"Ironically this is a variation of a glitch in the original G/S that was called at some sites as the "Ditto Quest"

This is how the Original worked

The way it works is you need two Pokemon games (G/S/C) and GBC's one cart will have the Ditto you want to learn the move(in the first position on your team) and you must be able to go the trainer's house in Viridian, the other will need a weaker Smeargle with one sketched "attack" move, and one or more "Sketch" move (in the first position on your team), you might want to stack this team with weaker opponents.

Do a Mystery Gift, then on the Ditto Cart go to the basement of the Trainer's House. The Team from the cart you just Mystery Gifted will be there, fight them. have Ditto transform into Smeargle, and wipe him out with the first move available DO NOT USE SKETCH until after you beat Smeargle, you may even want to use a Potion on Ditto after you defeat Smeargle, to give the next Pokemon a chance to use a move to sketch

Sketch as many times as available and you walk away with a Ditto who knows more than just Transform, these moves can than be bred into other Pokemon who could learn them naturally through breeding"

I have not verified if this glitch works or not, but if it does would it be classified as a major glitch as it gives Ditto moves it should not know and allows for pokemon who could learn them by breeding to do so with just a ditto or a minor glitch as it only affects Ditto outside of breeding.
Super goku 23:09, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
:Don't forget that Pokémon with Metronome can use Transform via Metronome, so it doesn't just apply to Mew and Ditto. == Double battle faint glitch ==

Whenever in the fith gen game black or white, both pokemon feint in the same turn you can not proceed.

You go to the select pokemon screen to select the first spot in the doulbe battle it does not switch out, and no pokemon can switch out so you must turn off the game and continue where you last saved.
Timmtim 04:34, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Timmtim
:I think I made that same mistake, if this is the same as what happened to me, you need to choose which Pokémon is switched with which already fainted one. That is, you need to select a fainted Pokémon to switch with one that you are bringing out. Also happened to me in the triple battle .... I hope this helps Dion24 05:00, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
::Yep, same, happened to me. It's not a glitch, its just a really poor implementation. You choose a pokemon to switch out, then you choose the fainted pokemon to replace it with, then you send out the other pokemon. It's not very clear at any step of the process but it allows you to choose which position to swap a pokemon into. Dudemango 05:31, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Black version glitch?
I just encountered a weird glitch in my Black Version. I was fighting The Riches Zillion's Krookodile. My Scolipede fainted, and I switched out to my weaker Deino so I could revive Scolipede. But when Krookodile proceeded to "faint" Deino, Deino's HP bar only fell to one, and it didn't give me the option to switch out. Now each time I try to take any action, be it using an item, switching out, or attacking (with Deino still ostensibly out and with one HP, despite its sprite having disappeared), the game ignores said action, and Krookodile attacks (with the attack always failing, because Deino is treated as having fainted). I'm going to have to reset to get rid of this glitch, because there's no other way to get out of this battle.

My question is: has anyone else had this glitch occur on their Generation V game? There were multiple factors at play in this battle, and I can't narrow down what caused this glitch unless someone else can corroborate my findings. --AndyPKMN (talk) 15:22, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

There have been many reports of this glitch, including even a video, but no one is yet sure of the cause. There is suspicion that it involves the new system for EV's and experience, but the exact cause or a definite method to replicate the glitch is currently unknown. OwnageMuch 08:21, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

:Okay then. At the very least I'm glad to know that it's not just me, and that others are aware of this glitch. Hopefully someone will be able to narrow down what the cause is. --AndyPKMN (talk) 13:07, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

missingno. level glitch
i have a new glitch for the first generation games pokemon red and blue. this is how it works catch a missingno. (not M' there is a difference) and get it to level 100 (if it's caught above level 100 have it gain experience to level down). revert it's image to that of a rydon by putting it in the pc and taking it out. afterwords train it heavily. you can go to the cerulian cave for the quickest way or go against the elete 4 with it. it shouldn't take too long but eventually it will level up to 101 and from there you can rare candy it or keep training it until it gets to level 192. once it's at that level it won't level down or up unless you give it rare candies but if it gains experience then it will level down back to 192. though missingno. has weak stats except for attack which is increadibly high if you get him to this level and give him 10 of each drug, he's well worth it. i can beat the elete 4 and the champian just using his hm moves i taught him. i beat glitch agatha with this pokemon alone (all her pokemon are level 205 and she has 6). his stats are as follows
attack:644
defense:116
speed:227
special:139
hp: 440
though most of his stats suck for his level hes way better than level 100 pokemon, especially with that killer attack. Chipan
:That is directly related to this. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 13:45, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Experience underflow glitch
I don't know how writing stuff out on bulbapedia works and I'm new and I tried to catch and withdraw a level 1 Nidoking from Pokemon Yellow to test out the EXP Underflow glitch and my game locked up. I don't know why it did that. It shouldn't have. Can anyone tell me the cause of it? If I keep my Pikachu's Growl 6 times instead of using Thunderbolt on a Slowpoke like normally would and bring Mew down to level 1 and then try to withdraw him will the game do the same thing it did when I tried to get out my level 1 Nidoking? Where do these glitched Pokemon come from? Do they just magically appear? What if this were like real life? It'd sound weird, wouldn't it? ~MichaelXD001
:The Pokémon (upon returning to the route in which you escaped) equates to the Special stat of the last Pokémon encountered in memory, according to its index number. This is why players commonly use the Youngster on 25, because his last Pokémon (a Slowpoke) just happens to have a Special stat of 21; equating to Mew's index number.

:When a level 1 medium-slow Pokémon (such as Nidoking) is sent to the PC, the game will freeze when attempting to withdraw it. I'm not exactly sure why this is, but I assume it's probably because the game can't calculate an appropriate level for the Pokémon to grow to (see box trick). This is unlike capturing it with 5 or less Pokémon in the party and having it gain experience in battle (ideally under 54 so you get to level 100), because under normal circumstances the Pokémon cannot grow past level 100, unless the Pokémon is an unstable hybrid, in which it can only grow in battle past level 100 if the donor and recipient Pokémon have different experience groups.

:This freeze glitch is commonly experienced with level 0 'M when you capture it with 6 Pokémon in the party and try to withdraw it, because its experience algorithm also gives it negative experience, pertaining to a level which the game can't calcuate.

:I hope this clears up your questions. --Chickasaurus 22:03, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

New Glitch???
I was doing the Viridian Forest version of the ditto/mew glitch on my GBA SP and pokemon blue.  Upon entering Viridian Forest again, I was immediately challenged by the bug catcher, lost, and was teleported back to my house where he challenged me again.  This time, I won.
Earlier on, though, I used the same glith on my GBA and battled a rattata, thinking that this would get me a level 1 nidoking, but it instead gave me a level 1 voltorb.  Any ideas what's going on here?
Newtonium (talk) 16:20, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
:Well, it's based solely on Special stat, so the stat corresponded to Voltorb. Pretty simple really.
Ok... But I used the same pokemon both times (right down to the same level rattata and charmander) and yet the second time I get challenged by a bug catcher.  If it helps at all, the Bug Catcher had a completely normal level nine Weedle.  Also, I saw the glitch used on a speed run of Red and the guy just battled a random rattata and got a nidoking.
Finally, can you save between the time when you've died in Viridian forest  and when you battle a wild pokemon, or does this reset the game so it no longer thinks it's in battle mode? Newtonium (talk) 08:41, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

:It is a completely different glitch. More information. The warping isn't unique enough to be called a distinct glitch because you exploded your items pack first by swapping a Pokémon with the tenth, so it is possible to manipulate various memory addresses, not just your exit location by changing the items past the end of the items.  It is listed under 'list of glitches in Generation I but not in much detail. You can do these kind of tricks with any glitch that increases your number of items to greater than or equal to 21 because the memory addresses just follow on one/two at a time (e.g. while item end of list is reserved for D346 (item 20) money byte 1 is D347 (quantity of item 21) and money byte 2 is D348 (identifier of item 22), etc. --Chickasaurus (talk) 11:28, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Possible glitch involving sleeping pokémon and explosion
When I was playing Pokémon Battle Revolution, I had my Torterra battling against a Drifblim. The Drifblim used Hypnosis and made my Torterra fall asleep. In the following turn I selected the move crunch, but before my Torterra could move, the Drifblim used Explosion, knocking itself out, while Torterra survived. Then, when Torterra was going to move, the message "Torterra used Crunch" appeared while it was still asleep, then it woke up and the message "But there was no target" showed up. This behavior ir quite unexpected, since the attacking pokémon shoud wake up before attempting to use a move, and should also be unable to move asleep. That also brings new questions, such as if the aweken pokémon fainting due to other reasons (recoile damage, for exemple) also makes this behavior take place, and if it is present in other games or other generations.
