I got a Mew in December, 1999 from a special promotion; it's what got me into Pokémon in the first place... I think it happened on December 15 of that year, but I can't remember for sure. TTEchidna 06:51, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

PBR Pokemon

Should the Pokémon you get in Mystery Gifts from PBR, (Pikachu, Elictivire, and Magmortar) be included in this article? I was thinking they may count as Event Pokémon as well. Superbreeder 21:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I added all. tc26 03:07, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Are they still in "unfair mode"?

Just to ask, I'd like to know if Nintendo still offers these event Pokémon only when you physically move your butt into a certain event at some city. If, then I'm disappointed since as I live in Finland we've had as much as ONE Nintendo event so far, and that was in Helsinki, which is about 200km (124 miles) from where I reside. So, do they now offer them via Wi-Fi as well or is it still almost-only-Japan&America stuff? UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 22:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

They've offered one Wi-Fi event, but it was for Japan only, and it was for a key item that unlocked the secrets of one Pokémon species. It's possible they could distribute event Pokémon over Wi-Fi in the future. --Shiningpikablu252 23:01, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
It was Worldwide but only Platinum.tc26 03:07, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to assume that since Wi-fi is over the Internet, you can receive it from anywhere, but only in a Japanese game.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:44, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
If it's still going to be only for Japanese, it's really sad. Well, I probably have to just get over the fact that I'll never get these Event Pokémon. It'd be cool, though, if I got one in a trade (one without that Classic Ribbon of course) :P UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 21:11, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

If you ask me, it is totally unfair that Japan and America get all the events, while NONE of them have ever been in Canada. I finaly managed to get my first event pokemon pichu and the yellow forest, but those were via wifi. and even now, only the japanese can get the shiney legendary beasts/celebi, thus, I'll be forced to hack my games to get them.--KonguChaos

I think the "unfair" aspect is a matter of perspective. It's impossible for me to configure my DS to use Wi-Fi at the college I go to, which forced me to miss out on the Yellow Forest. I'm sure that, especially for younger children, it can be easier to go to a GameStop or Toys R Us, download the event, and leave, than to jump through the hoops it takes to configure and activate the Wi-Fi connection.
And in regards to the shiny beast/Celebi events, they'll more likely than not occur in the U.S. later. Those events, particularly the shiny beasts, are to promote the 13th movie, which isn't due out in the U.S. for a while now.
Pardon my rant, I felt I needed to get that off my chest. Might be a bit more appropriate for the forums, but then again, I can't tell how this whole section was intended to help the wiki. Whatever. --AndyPKMN 21:02, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Um... I live in canada, not the states. Nintendo won't let us have event pokemon (other than wifi events). looks like i'll need to use my action replay once I get it fixed (or replaced)--Kongu Chaos 23:19, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Cherish Balls

Not all event Pokémon come in Cherish Balls. My MYSTRY Mew is in a Pokéball. So shouldn't it say "most come in Cherish Balls some come in Pokéballs"? See here. Sivart345 20:36, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Also there are other event Pokémon that come in Pokéballs. Sivart345 20:37, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

If you read it correctly, it says in Gen IV all of them do. --PsychicRider 20:39, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Well then why is this Manaphy in a Pokéball? It's Gen IV... Sorry I forgot my MYSTRY Mew is Gen III, my bad. Sivart345 20:52, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I found 4 Gen IV Pokémon that were not distributed in Cherish Balls. See here --Sivart345 16:16, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I see someone finally changed all are in Cherish Balls to most. Thanks Tc26 :D Sivart345 17:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Celebi

Celebi was available in Australia as an event pokémon, given out in 2001 via direct trade. I know because I got one.Da Rammo 06:37, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Other info please. Like OT and ID No. and moves. *tc26* 08:47, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

A complete listing?

At the bottom of the page we list types of things that have been given out at events, but would it be possible to list the actual items given out at events on one page? (ie event berries, event items, event pokemon, event unlocked events such as the regis in platinum?) Enigmaberry 13:58, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Click on the links. They can't all fit in one page, it's too big. Also, it's only Regigigas, not all 3 Regis. *tc26* 14:33, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
That's not what I mean. I'm saying list all the event items, not the actual events (ie: Pokemon: Darkrai, Shaymin, etc. not where/when they were given out) Enigmaberry 19:29, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Honestly, just use the template below, it's there. *tc26* 04:42, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

New Templates.

The new templates are great, but they don't link to the event Pokémon very well... Sivart345 23:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Also 'tweaking' can be used to battle Shaymin (at Flower Paradise) in D/P. These templates don't give enough info and make event Pokémon seem rarer than they actually are. Sivart345 23:55, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Add tweaking then. If it isn't complete, make it complete. That's the point of a wiki. — THE TROM — 00:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah but the way the template is I don't know how too. And it will probably be removed for being 'redundant, or 'un-needed', or something... O_o Sivart345 00:25, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
It's the same info as the ones in text form, it's the same and they don't make that much a difference, even in rarity. *tc26* 07:26, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean by link? *tc26* 07:26, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
He means links to the ToysRUs Pikadoodle or whatever. Seriously though, why doesn't this page list all event pokies, not just the legendaries? — THE TROM — 10:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
They can be browsed by clicking the year in the template below when the event Pokémon were distributed.. Ҝəυzø8 10:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

They were in one page before but it got too many. *tc26* 10:53, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

You were previously able to click links to go to the event they were given away at. We should put numbers after the 'other giveaways' like this 1/2/3 or 1,2,3,4 to link to the actual giveaway of those event Pokémon; players want to know about the previous events. Something like this: Other giveaways (1/2) . Sivart345 16:57, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Seems kind of ridiculous. Look at how many Mew events there've been. If they're listed on the Pokémon's page, which they should be, just link to that. TTEchidna 18:58, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
They ain't all listed on the Pokémon's page -_- . Mew is like the only one there has been plenty of... Jirachi, Celebi, and Shaymin have all had very few. --Sivart345 20:40, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Then that means people have work to do creating these sections. O Mighty Editor In Chief, seeing as you appear to be involved in this discussion, may I have permission to create a ep template, coded as [[{{{1}}} (Pokémon)#In_events|{{{1}}}]]? It could be useful here. — THE TROM — 20:45, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
*blinks and shrugs shoulders* --Sivart345 20:49, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
I think it's fine for what we need right now. The table at the bottom of the page should be sufficient enough. If it isn't easy enough to navigate with, that person is out of luck. And I don't mean you Sivart, just anyone in general. R.A. Hunter B. 21:10, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I know how to navigate around them... I probably have most of the event Pokémon memorized anyways.... O_O What about the upcoming Arceus in JP? --Sivart345 23:30, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
That'll be added like all the others were when the details come out. R.A. Hunter B. 00:11, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Details are already out: it comes out in JP when the movie premiers--thats all players need to know right now. --Sivart345 01:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
No it's not. We wait for ALL the details to come out, not just that a Pokémon is going to be given out. R.A. Hunter B. 21:02, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Fine, whatever. - unsigned comment from Sivart345 (talkcontribs)
Dang, how the heck did I forget again?!? --Sivart345 13:41, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Put an unsigned comment thing on your page like mine. It helps you remember somehow. R.A. Hunter B. 02:17, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
I have only done it 3 times and maybe if people would give me about 5 minutes I would realize my error. -_- --Sivart345 19:13, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Requirements to be event Pokémon?

For the game to recognize a Pokémon as an event Pokémon and open areas that weren't there before (Shinto Ruins, Regis' caves) and get a special Pokémon (One of the Pokémon from the dragon trio, Regigigas), what does it need to have? Caught in a cherish ball, have a certain ribbon, fateful encounter, etc.? - unsigned comment from Fudgenuggets (talkcontribs)

It's the Classic Ribbon and the coding that identifies what Pokémon it's on. You can hack a Cherish Ball and it won't do anything. Fateful Encounter won't either, because it's only the location data. The Classic Ribbon also keeps people from trading the Pokémon holding it over the GTS, since it's only on Event Pokémon, unless somebody hacks it. R.A. Hunter Blade 18:40, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, that's sucks. So unfair for people who don't have Wi-fi or don't live close enough to places where event Pokémon are being given away. The 2 event Pokémon I have is the Movie 9 Manaphy and the Ranger Manaphy I got from my cousin's Ranger. *looks at discussion question above about "unfair mode" - unsigned comment from Fudgenuggets (talkcontribs)

Event worldwide by Wi-Fi?

Did they ever released any event in D/P/Pt in which it was distributed all over the world by Wi-Fi? I hope they'll do that soon; our place haven't reached any event at all... Palkia38 15:59, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Um... kind of. They let you download the Secret Key for Rotom and the Member Card for Darkrai. As for the Pokémon on this page, no. You would have had to be where they were giving them away. R.A. Hunter Blade 19:02, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
There's a Japanese Mew soon. That's the only one so far and it's for Japanese games only. tc²₆tc26 00:57, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Aren't we missing a whole bunch of Generation IV event Pokémon?

Aren't we missing the Japan Mew, The Worldwide Regigigas, The Korean Jirachi, The GameStop Deoxys, and the Shokotan/GameStop Pichu? -Question? Ask me here!

I'm not sure if it's worldwide, but between the 15th and 30th of October, selecting Mystery Gift on HG/SS gets you a Mew in Australia, at least. Pearly 05:01, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Zorua and Zoroark?

I was wondering why Zorua and Zoroark aren't included on the Generation V Event Pokémon list? They can only be seen in-game for GTS purposes; otherwise, you need a Fateful Encounter Celebi or a Crown Beast to obtain them. And to GTS them, someone needs to have a FE Celebi or CBeast. Ryu Shoji 19:25, 20 October 2010 (BST)

Coz... no one's edited the page yet. The page isn't protected, is it? —darklordtrom 21:15, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I've added Zorua and Zoroark. Hopefully there's no longer any problem. Redletterday (Talk to me!) 03:24, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Link to Secure?

The external link at the bottom to Pokémon Secure seems wrong. The entire site (including the linked list) is closed to non-members, registration is all but closed, and the mods arbitrarily ban discussions on hacking which don't vilify "hackers" categorically. Wouldn't it be more congruous with Bulbapedia's wiki style community to link to a site where anyone can access the information? Nonasuomi 07:32, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Phione

Phione is indirectly an event Pokemon since it can only be obtained by breeding Manaphy, an event only Pokemon, so since Zorua and Zoroark are on the list, shouldn't Phione be here too? XVuvuzela2010X 19:19, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

I've added Phione to both Generation IV and V, as Phione is directly obtainable in Black and White too. Hopefully there's no objections. Redletterday (Talk to me!) 19:56, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

250 Pokémon in My Pokémon Ranch

This page says that, when 250 Pokémon are transferred to My Pokémon Ranch, a Manaphy can be received; however, the MPR page says that you receive a Phione instead. Which one is correct? —Minimiscience 18:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Phione is what you recieve. I'll edit the page accordingly, assuming it's not too confusing...--Purimpopoie 18:27, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, that table makes my brain melt. Can anyone else fix it?--Purimpopoie 18:31, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Celebi

Should it be added to the Gen IV section? I don't want to add it, mainly because i do not know much about the upcoming event. If someone wants to add it, they can just copy this, and edit the Methods:

Mythical Pokémon

Someone added a move notice without adding a talk page section. So, I'm starting it. Anyway, I don't believe it should be moved unless there is evidence that TPCi has endorsed this name change. --Nathan2055talk 23:29, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

I have to agree with you. Also, would all the Event Pokemon listed on the page be considered Mythical Pokemon, like Zoroark or Phione? XVuvuzela2010X 23:37, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
I don't see any reason for moving this page to Mythical Pokémon. Event Pokémon is a widely used term in the community, and neither Event Pokémon or Mythical Pokémon is used in the games as far as I know. Since Mythical Pokémon is a very vague term, it might also mean Legendary Pokémon... JosJuice 15:24, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
幻のポケモン, the Japanese term that Mythical Pokémon is the translation of, is on ポケモン Wiki, and has all of these Pokémon listed except Zorua and Zoroark. However, I admit that "Event Pokémon", while it refers to the same Pokémon, is a different concept. This page describes how events must be visited to obtain them, while Mythical Pokémon would describe why they are Mythical. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 23:37, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

I don't think it is a good idea. The common term is Event Pokemon anyway. Pokemoninfo 23:05, 19 April 2011 (UTC) Mythical Pokémon simply falls under Event Pokémon. It refers to event-only species while the latter refers to those, as well as the Pokémon they give away at events. tc²₆tc26 01:42, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Dream World Events and Info on them

I noticed that I couldn't find out about the dream world events through Bulbapedia, so should we list ones from the past like the recent Eevee evolution event that ends May 5th? Maybe include info on the flash game your need to play (a variation on breakout in this case) to help people figure out how the evolution you receive is determined? Also I heard that the Pokemon is sent over after the event is completed (May 5th) and some people have been asking about that and why they haven't gotten theirs yet because they haven't heard about that. Kellan 23:18, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm still gathering info on DW promos, so just wait please :D For now, info on the game is found here. On getting the evolution, it will be made available on the Promos section of Global Link. tc²₆tc26 00:22, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Darkrai and Zoroark

According to their main articles, they weren't given away in Generation V, but it's still included as a method. Can someone see why this is the case? --Enervation 21:40, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Their main pages are wrong. They were given away in Generation V. Bluesun 22:24, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Can someone clarify this please.

"For Pokémon obtained in Generation IV onwards, the dates do not need to be the dates the events were held. This is because the date is based on the one set on the DS."

Does this mean you can change the date on your DS to a time during a past event and get that pokemon? That's what I'm reading it as but I just seriously doubt that it's possible so could someone clarify what this means? Kevinjohn3d 15:00, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

It means that you could change the date to anything, and have a set of event Pokemon all 'recieved' on January 1, 2000, -- or any other date, say, 2020. You still needed to have been to/downloaded the event during the activity period though. Bluesun 15:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

3rd-31st December Victini UK

I have one and could give data but where does it go? 2011, obviously but then where PAL? Thanks--Epsilonexus 12:07, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah it is PAL isn't it for the UK. Ignore me...Epsilonexus 12:13, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Organisation of Lists of Event Pokemon

Is it still wise to have separate lists for NA and PAL event Pokemon? These days events seem to be organised by language. Sure there's the VGC Larvitar only available (in English) in the UK, and the secret eggs only for the US, but these appear to be exceptions to a newly established rule (the rule being that important/cool events are distributed over wi-fi to english games, not in stores). If Keldeo is distributed over wi-fi to English-language games and not in stores then that will cement this new rule, but as Victini was sent over Wi-fi I'm guessing Keldeo will be too. Keep older lists separated by PAL/NA, back when it made sense, now it just seems redundant listing the same pokemon it two different lists.

Also when it says North America it appears to only mean the USA and English speaking Canada. Are there no spanish wi-fi events for Mexico and Central america (or the spanish speaking population of US)? What about french wi-fi events for Quebec? Jmvb 17:26, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

For the organisation, the change has been decided on already (See here: [1]), it's just taking time to actually implement because there are so many. Werdnae (talk) 00:14, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Spiky-Eared Pichu & Rotom's extra formes

Should the Spiky-Eared Pichu and extra Rotom formes be added to the gen IV section? Spiky-Eared Pichu could only be obtained through an event, and in Platinum you could only obtain Rotom's extra formes through one as well. I'm aware that they've since become available through other games without requiring events (such as hg/ss, b/w, etc.) but then again so have Zorua and Zoroark, both of which are on the list. I personally feel that they would fit well since they were event-only Pokemon at the time of their original releases in main series games.

Leaked Pokemon

I know officially they are unannounced by Nintendo and a considered rumors but many websites support the two seemingly leaked Pokémon Volcanion and Hoopa. Shouldn't we add these to the events and create articles on them - unsigned comment from Pimpchar (talkcontribs) 17:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Multiple admins have voted against it in the past, so no. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 17:52, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Just to elaborate more, in the past more than one source has identified the events, whereas with these two they were only found by one person who was then used as a reference by everyone else, and so the admins have decided that that is not enough proof despite the fact that he got the first one right, as a result their pages have been decided to be delayed until an official announcement or more people hack the 3DS and provide evidence for them.--Ditto51/Tom (My Talk Page) 13:26, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Event-exclusive moves

I suggest we have a list of the event-exclusive moves somewhere, because it doesn't exactly correspond with the signature moves of these event-exclusive Pokémon.

I have compiled a list of event-exclusive moves and put it here: User:Ribose/s/eventmoves. ~ Ribose · talk · cntr · 21:58, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Marshadow is listed as an event Pokemon on its Pokemon page but it's not on this page.

Section for Pokémon GO

In GO, costumed Pokémon are officially known as "Event Pokémon" in the game text. Should there be a section for GO, or spin-off page "Event Pokémon (GO)"? TehPerson (talk) 15:09, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

If anything I imagine splitting the List of Pokémon with form differences and this page so they each have their own Go pages would probably be for the best in the long run. --Spriteit (talk) 01:31, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Return to "Event Pokémon" page.
