Name of final evo is Enbuuo.--Makupe 12:58, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

What

Is this page meant for Pokabu's final evolution? If so, we have it romanized elsewhere, including on Pokabu and Chaobu's pages as "Emboar". --ZestyCactus 18:13, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

This page should be 'Emboar'. Because of the way Japanese characters work, it is spelled 'Enbuoo' using Japanese characters, just like Zekrom is writted 'Zekuromu' etc. Folktaliesin 12:30, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I think that now the only time we will change the romanisations is if the official one is revealed or if the current one does not match the kana. --SnorlaxMonster 06:02, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Guess of Name origin. 炎(en/Flame) 武(bu/Martial arts) 王(Ō/King)

It is a guess. Sawamular101 22:29, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

En in Chinese also means diligence.--444Zekrom 11:30, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Animated Sprite

Here check Enbuoh's animated sprite: a:File:Enbuoo NB.gif ‎ Could we change the current sprite? "AngelGuardian" 01:37, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Origin. Soldier of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms".

It is a remark of the developer. [1]Sawamular101 13:16, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Question: Why does everybody post references to Japanese blogs WITHOUT a translation as to what they're saying? I'd really like to look at the references for these kinds of things, but not everyone here knows Japanese you know..... Shiramu Kuromu 20:26, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
I understand your concern, but if you want to translate it, try using an online translator like Google translate on the page. It's great for getting the general idea of the text. Anyway, I don't see how we could functionally provide a link to a translation for a reference. --SnorlaxMonster 11:23, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Possible American football player origin?

Enbuoo possibly may have taken inspiration from American football players, as it is bulky in appearance and the flames around its neck flare up to what resembles shoulder pads. The ball used in American football is sometimes referred to as a "pigskin", and Enbuoo is based on a pig. Its level up and egg moves further reflect this. In American football, players tackle and blitz their way to scoring touchdowns. Enbuoo's moves Tackle, Flare Blitz, Arm Thrust, Endeavor, Body Slam, and Take Down all contribute to this. Defensive football players use their larger weight to get the best of the fast offensive players, as Enbuoo does with its moves Heavy Bomber and Heat Stamp. Unova has football players as trainers this time around as well, so they defenitely were thinking about them when they made the games. Anyone else think this is a valid origin?-- Swagmander 19:52, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

"Enbuoh is based on the soldier of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It and its pre-evolutions, as stated by Ken Sugimori, were designed in a Chinese style." Tell me, does China have football?--Black Yin Zekrom 17:33, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

True, I realize this and know that Sugimori designed Enbuoo with a Chinese style. However, several Pokémon have more than one inspiration for their designs and moves. Black and White include several references to North American culture. The main reason I suggested this origin was due to Enbuoo's stance and movepool.-- Swagmander 19:52, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

English Name Confirmed: Emboar

I have recentley found the english name. It is Emboar, the source, [[2]] Any agreements or disagreements are free to be posted below. Benboy803 23:57, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Wikia is not a source either. When we ask for sources, it better be from something official, not some fan site. Jellotalk 00:04, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
  • facepalm* Is there REALLY a point to argue about english names anymore? The leaked list from about a month ago has been 100% confirmed with nearly 5-10 official reveals afterwards having names directly from that list. It'll only save time to update the site with the list now than to wait for the english release in March. Shiramu Kuromu 10:09, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
From Arti's talk page. "We're not saying that the leaked names are definitively not real, we're saying that we are not using them until they are officially announced. That is our policy, and we have legal reasons for sticking by it. 梅子 20:07, 12 February 2011 (UTC)"
Also, since anyone can edit the site, we have to impose stricter limitations on what can be added and what can't, in order to provide a clear boundary between speculation and information. In short, yes, we realise that the names are almost certainly real. However they will not be added until they are made real by an official source. Werdnae (talk) 19:26, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
If the name's from the leaked list, so why did the page's name changed to Emboar? --MickBooterhood 17:37, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Except it isn't. It's from a TCG image that confirmed it and Serperior's names Ataro 17:35, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
And they didn't confirmed Samurott's one? I think if they confirmed the two they should also confirm the third, right? --MickBooterhood 17:37, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Sadly, no Ataro 17:40, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Is Emboar a direct translation of Enbouh?

Because I thought it was. This could be a good trivia addition and it could go something like "Emboar, Meganium, and Pikachu are the only starter Pokemon whose names are either direct or literal translations of their Japanese names." Like I said, if this is actually true, this could be good for a trivia addition, but if it's not, then we shouldn't add it in there. What do you guys think? RedLuigi 02:41, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Emboar =/= Enbuoh. It just sounds similar. If it was a transliteration, it would be "Enbooru" or something. Pikachu and the Chikorita family are the only starters who's names are transliterations of their Japanese names. --ケンジガール 03:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay then. Thanks for replying. :) RedLuigi 22:38, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Emboar is based on the soldier of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.'

I never knew about this..can someone clarify how?Duo2nd 05:27, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Apparently it's mentioned here. --SnorlaxMonster 09:22, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Emboar: Close Combat

Should the fact that Emboar is the only Fire/Fighting starter not to learn Close Combat be in the trivia section? ZMurcielago 02:35, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

I would say so, but for some strange reason we're not allowed to add trivia at the moment. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 03:39, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

M14?

It says in Emboar's anime appearances that it battles Ash's oshawott and loses? Should it be mentioned that Iris battled it first with emolga but forfitted because emolga used volt switch to send out her Excadrill? - unsigned comment from Emeraldben (talkcontribs)

Attack stat

Is the fact that Emboar has the highest Attack stat of all the fully evolved Fire Starters worth bringing up?

Ryanson209 (talk) 07:14, 31 January 2014 (UTC)ryanson209

It's quite specific, so I'd be uncomfortable including it. You're looking at a pool of only six Pokémon to begin with; being the best at anything out of a pool of just six isn't very much worth noting, in my opinion. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:13, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
