::Actually, I thought ''this'' episode was the one set immediately before the first movie. I think we usually consider a movie to take place between the episodes it was released between unless A) a main character's team indicates otherwise or B) episodes were delayed, which is probably the case here thanks to the EP038 incident. It makes sense, anyway. Ash and friends are in the islands of southern Kanto for this episode and the first movie, then in the next episode, they're back on the mainland.
