:I don't believe it is a color error. If you watch Ep065 it shows the Safari balls as being Green like the one from the first episode. Its possible that that pokeball is meant to be a safari zone ball. This is gotten from how it shows all of Ash's captures and most of them are in green balls. I just noticed in watching this episode again that Ash and Gary seem to imply that they do not know each other, I don't know if this would be relevant as trivia for this episode because it contradicts The Ties that Bind and the whole half Pokeball thing. Gary says "you must be Ash" and "at least you get the chance to meet me", although it does seem from their conversation as if Ash knows who Gary is.
