Dongle Method?!

Where did this name come from?--PikamasterADV 02:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I've heard of it referred to as such, since it uses the GBA games as a dongle. --TTEchidna 03:46, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it's just called Dual-Slot Mode. Kevinchai 17:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
It is Kevin, the offical stragy guide by nintnedo calls it. - unsigned comment from Lego3400 (talkcontribs)

Before or after Elite Four

Like the title says. Is this only available after the elite four, or anytime in the game? I think that would be useful information to add, as that's what I came to this page looking for. - unsigned comment from Joey (talkcontribs)

You can try to experiment with it. It's possible you only need to unlock the national dex. - 振霖T 08:22, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Encounter rate?

Does anyone have information regarding the encounter rate of dongle pokémon? LostDrewid 07:53, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Most often it's 8%. See the pages on the places where the specific Pokémon are found to see. TTEchidna 08:28, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Gens I & II?

What happens when you insert Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver or Crystal in with a a IV Gen game? - unsigned comment from BlueGasMask (talkcontribs)

You cant. The ds doesnt support GB, GBC games, they wont fit in the slot.--Davidaipom 10:57, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
The DS can HOLD the cardtridge, but its processor completely outrides the G1 and G2 era games. If you actually want to input a GB or GBC cardtridge and play it on the DS, the DS would look a little something like the Wii...not exactly 'portable'. Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links11:30 26 Aug 2008
I've always been curious as to why the DS does not have GB and GBC support. The Gameboy SP supports GB (at least my Pokémon Red version), GBC, and GBA. Despite all that, the SP is very small and compact. Do you know why that couldn't fit in the DS? Ritabuuk 19:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

JP Platinum and US GBA compatibility

As far as I have tested, they are compatible. I was testing my Chimchar's hidden power type on Route 203 and ran into a Lotad while Sapphire was in the GBA slot. Figure I'd just throw that out there. Goldraine 02:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Any language of Gen IV is compatible with any language of Gen III as far as DSM goes. When you try to migrate, however, it goes sour, as that's language locked. TTEchidna 08:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Diamond and Pearl versus Platinum Dual-Slots

Looking at the Dual-Slot information here, there looks to be some discrepancy from the data on the individual Pokemon pages.

Example: Lunatone is said to be catchable with Sapphire in the slot in Platinum, but the Lunatone page claims that the only way to get it in Platinum is through trading.

Another example is Lotoad: The Dual-Slot page says: Routes 203, 204, 205, and 212 (south)

The Lotoad page says: Diamond/Pearl Dongle Routes 203, 204, 205, and 212 (Sapphire) Platinum Dongle Routes 203, 204, 210 (South), and Eterna Forest (Sapphire)

Are there any plans to update the Dual-Slot data? Rskutins 17:37, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

In addition, I just caught a Gligar on 206 with Sapphire in the slot. Jazzmoth 02:29, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
ust curious but were you playing pokemon platinum - unsigned comment from Grungle7 (talkcontribs)

DSi

What no comment about how the DSi users can't access this? That makes me think that I somehow can? felinoel 18:21, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

It says it isn't available (due to the removal of the GBA slot) in the first paragraph of the article. Werdnae (talk) 19:25, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, silly me, thanks for pointing that out felinoel 08:27, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

HG/SS?

Are the pokemon available in HG/SS? - unsigned comment from ????? (talkcontribs)

(not OP) So, is there Dual-slot mode in HG/SS? The article's omission implies that there is not, but I'd just like to verify. Ritabuuk 19:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Well with the unavailability in the new DS's for such a thing, I doubt its inclusion... felinoel 07:55, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, there are no Dual-slot Pokémon in HGSS. However, the GBA Port is still used for Pal Park, and for the lady in the Pal Park building who gives you accessories. --AndyPKMN 14:35, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Some Pokémon

Aren't Bibarel and Staravia availible in Lake Verity with the Dongle Method? Dragontail (talk) 20:58, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Different DS for Pearl & Progress in GBA Questions

I've made sure I've done everything required beforehand as is stated in this article. I've unlocked palpark and have the national dex. I'm not encountering anything yet through this method, however. I was wondering, since I noticed in migrating my pokémon a long while back (to my son's game to trade to mine), I was told I could not migrate to his diamond because it wasn't saved to my DS. Now that I'm ready to try the dongle method, I've had to move my Pearl to my old DS from my 3DS. I'm wondering if I have to wait 24 hours for the code to update in the games before I'll start encountering the dongle pokémon. I'd just grab a bunch to migrate, but the ruby cartridge is at the beginning of the game. So, I'm also wondering if that matters. I don't mind the rare chance, really, but I at least want to make sure there is a chance in the first place. Thanks! Saronai (talk) 08:12, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
