Langtable

I think that the table wrongfully assumes that the name for this character will be the same as the movie title in all languages, which may not always be the case. Especially in the case of languages that didn't translate the title - the fact that the English title was left intact doesn't automatically mean that these languages will keep the English word "detective" when referring to the character, in my opinion. --Maxim (talk) 09:34, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

I agree, I removed those (is, no) that we don't actually know the names of. --Raltseye prata med mej 11:59, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Quote?

I don't know if this wiki allows quote at the page's start, but I have a good one and want to know if I actually can add it. (Magma (talk) 18:14, 3 May 2019 (UTC))

We don't allow quotes directly at the top of the articles, though we do allow in game quotes (many game characters have them). Haven't played the game, so I know nothing about it or any quotes. Quotes from other media, we don't add.--ForceFire 04:29, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Voice actors from trailers

Voice actors from trailers should really be added to the voice actors section? It's quite common in foreign dub trailers that the voices don't match with the ones from the actual dubbing of the movie, but I don't know if they're relevant enough to be included. Guille Skye (talk) 11:20, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

They should and some are, when we know who they are. --Spriteit (talk) 07:49, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
kind of why not as long as it's clearly marked. --Raltseye prata med mej 08:11, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
I see. Thanks! I remember at least one European Spanish trailer of a Pokémon movie with some different voices, so I wanted to clarify it before editing. Guille Skye (talk) 10:14, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

Move

In a similar way to how some other characters are handled (example Flint and Flint (disambiguation); Aaron and Aaron (disambiguation)), I propose moving this page to just Detective Pikachu, and the current disambiguation page at that title to Detective Pikachu (disambiguation). Thoughts? → PikaTepig999 21:18, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Support. Yes, arguably the Detective Pikachu character can be considered the "main" concept since he appears in all the media.
Maybe we could also have a "Detective Pikachu series" page explaining the game series and related media, a bit like Pokémon Ranger series and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series.
I've been thinking if the "Detective Pikachu" page title should maybe be about explaining the franchise like that, but "Detective Pikachu series" would work for this purpose, in my opinion. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 23:50, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't think this is quite equivalent to the Flint and Aaron situations. With Flint and Aaron, the disambig pages exist mainly because there are other characters named Flint and Aaron, and the core series characters are the most likely search targets. With Detective Pikachu, however, the search targets include a character, a game, and a movie that are all called Detective Pikachu. (The movie is technically called POKÉMON Detective Pikachu, but most people either don't bother or don't know to include the "POKÉMON" part.) Between those three, can we really say that the character is the most likely search target? I oppose the move.
The current Detective Pikachu disambiguation page lists basically all Detective Pikachu-related media, which is better suited for the Detective Pikachu series page that Daniel proposed. I suggest that we leave this page as it is, create a page for the Detective Pikachu series, change the disambig page to include only the game, character, movie, and series, and move all the other things from the disambig to the series page. Echoing Storm's sentiments. Landfish7 01:08, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
Even if a series page is made, I don't think anything needs to be removed from the disambiguation page, all of those items are there for quick redirection, instead of having to go to the series page and read through text for the desired target. → PikaTepig999 22:49, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
I think if we had Detective Pikachu redirect to Detective Pikachu series, we could still have a hatnote at the top leading to Detective Pikachu (disambiguation). Landfish7 22:51, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
I generally support Storm's logic here and also oppose the move. The main title can/should serve as the disambiguation for the things directly called or likely to be directly called 'Detective Pikachu', with the development of a series page as a useful solution here. MaverickNate 23:46, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
For the record, I oppose the move. Landfish7 20:16, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
