::Its baby's color could have been changed after it was decided to make the Kangaskhan line separate from the Cubone family, so that it wouldn't look like a Cubone. In fact, that could explain why is has a different color from Kangaskhan: it was originally brown, but when they decided that Marowak didn't evolve into Kangaskhan, they tried to make the baby look different from Cubone by changing its color scheme so that people wouldn't make the connection.
