Distinguish?

Is the fact that this is the only electronic device in the main series owned by a trainer that does not have "Poke" in it worth noting? Thanks. TFSpock 21:09, 23 November 2010 (UTC)TFSpock

"C" in C-Gear

I would assumed it stands for Communication Gear, but anyone have any other ideas? Or any origin of the name? I'd like to have confirmation to post "communication" before doing so. Chum 01:16, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Game Sync

Needing to wait 24 hours might happen if you tamper with the clock, but all your DS needs to do is hit midnight (and change dates) before you can tuck in a pokémon. So knowing for sure if it really is a 24 hour wait if you fiddle with the DS clock is imperative, because it's not true, otherwise. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 23:54, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Physical form

Alright, I'm confused as to what the C-Gear actually looks like. We know what the X-Tranceiver looks like (we even have art of it), and that you receive the C-Gear after it. But you use the X-Tranceiver with friends, wirelessly, THROUGH the C-Gear. Is the X-Tranceiver a function of the C-Gear? Or is the C-Gear an upgrade to the X-Tranceiver? It's extremely unclear. --AndyPKMN (talk) 00:27, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

What I've thought is that it's possible that the C-Gear is actually given to the player, rather than the player character. For example all the stuff about uploading save files from players across the world doesn't quite make sense if it's given to the player character. That, or, maybe it's some sort of OS for the X-Transciever, and 'X-Transciever' is simply the Pokémon World's name for videochatting (which would explain Professor Oak's Pokémon X-Transciever). Bear in mind, we still call our mobile phones "phones", despite the telephone being a very minor function in many cases. PLA 07:04, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Customisable icons.

I heard the selection is gender specific. Is it true? PLA 07:06, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes. I play different genders in my different versions and I can assure you the shapes are different. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 07:09, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Tag Log player "dots"

Does anyone have any idea what the 0-5 orange dots are on each passerby on the Tag Log? I've looked all around and can't find it - and it seems like information that would go here. It's not anywhere on the Net that I've looked, and isn't in the game manual or C-Gear help. I feel like it might be related to trainer stars, since I have two, most of my friends have 1, and I've seen 0 a few times, which matches up with my Trainer card, and the fact that most of my friends are playing more casually. I can't confirm this until my Trainer Card changes again, but it would be an interesting addition to both this page and the Trainer Stars page if we could figure it out. I thought we use the exact name of the main article. May I get a confirmation? ~Enervation 22:59, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

"Sleepy" Pokémon

Why does it say my Kyurem "doesn't seem sleepy right now" when I go to tuck it in? KyuremsIceBlade (talk) 14:42, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

I would say that either (a) you've used Game Sync 24 hours prior, or (b) Kyurem is not permitted on PDW at the time. Is Kyurem in an alternate Forme? That might be a reason. --TruePikachu (talk) 23:58, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Technical Trivia?

Would the facts about the file format for C-Gear skins count as trivia, like the 16-colour limitations, or the fact that images NEED to have blank areas? The game can only handle so many 16x16 blocks, which is what leads to the blank areas or patterns in some skins. I don't know if this limit was raised in BW2, the images do seem more complex. ♪Pyrii♫ talkcontrib 02:27, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

The 4 bit color might be notable for trivia (await another confirmation), but the tile limit should not be considered trivia. The reasons being that (a) the small pixel size on the DS (I say small compared to a TI-83 line calculator) makes it hard to count pixels - when one reads a piece of trivia like that, they are more likely to confirm it rather than just accept it as true, (b) it would only be an issue for people trying to create skins and later PokéSav them in - problems related to savegame modification I do not believe are notable (do we go into detail about savegame error recovery?). Additionally, "more complex" images does not imply that one is using more tiles or colors, but rather tricks to make one believe they are. Tricks like dithering and tiles that can make sense in multiple locations. --TruePikachu (talk) 00:07, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
