:::::That's what I wanted to point in the trivia... that Gen III sprites interestingly (and coincidentally) make it shoot from its mouth... maybe someone could point it better than me. Honestly, if we're going to use sprites for any moves of any kind, it should be 3-D games, because they atleast TRY to make the moves look realistic (PBR's contact moves actually ''making contact'' was a big jump, imo). [[User:Sk8torchic|Sk8torchic]] 14:59, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

:::I saw the bit about Exclusivly to Blastoise and got lost a bit.  Hydro Cannon is exclusive to all Water Starters, not just Blastoise.  The cannons in its shell have always been there for decoration purpose IMO.  Besdies that the Cannon signifies the pressure for the attack.  Look at it this way, Water Gun is the weakest only doing squirt like damage, Hydropump is like using a hose, Hydro Cannon is using a pressure washer. Also the bit about Blastoise always having its cannons out in the Anime is wrong, the cannons only appeared when it was ready to fire off one of its water attacks.  I know the Elemental Hyperbeam attacks were issued out in the remake of Red and Blue games but if you brought over any of the other Water starters you can get Hydro Cannon with them.  I agree fully with the They don't design Pokemon for certain moves bit though. == Linking moves ==
Hello everyone, I am kinda new on this Bulbapedia thing, so I would appreciate it if someone can lend me a helping hand on how to link moves, I am having problems with the thing, sorry if I mess up anything.--[[User:Daniel&#39;s Raichu|Daniel&#39;s Raichu]] 12:06, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
:This isn't the best place to ask, but to link to a move article write <nowiki>{{m|Move name}}</nowiki>. &mdash;'''<span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="color:#000">darklord</span>[[User talk:The dark lord trombonator|<span style="color:#0047AB">trom</span>]]</span>''' 11:30, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

== Red and Green ==
Why are we using the Blastoise picture from [[Red and Green]]? Why not [[FireRed and LeafGreen]].

==Gamera==
For Blastoise's origin, isn't he based off Gamera (giant turtle in Japanese monster movies)too?{{unsigned|Pialga92}}
:Other than being a turtle, Blastoise and Gamera share NO similarities whatsoever. - [[User:050294|050294]] 23:48, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
== Sea Turtle and Tortoise?! ==
Blastoise is clearly a freshwater turtle.[[User:Bennell|Bennell]] 15:01, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
:Upon checking, this is clearly obvious. Maybe it was something that got overlooked during the process of translating. ''[[User:Frozen Fennec|<span style="color:teal">Frozen</span>]] [[User talk:Frozen Fennec|<span style="color:green">Fennec</span>]]'' 04:16, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
== Shell ==
In the RBY sprites, the box around Blastoise's cannons looked more like raised "flaps" of the shell, but in the official art and in later sprites this was fixed. Could that be added in the trivia section, perhaps worded more eloquently? [[User:Sphericalice|Sphericalice]] ([[User talk:Sphericalice|talk]]) 20:34, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
:Sprite trivia are generally not notable unless there is a significant design difference (see vaporeon or (of course) Jynx). Also, I don't think that is a sprite error as, imo, it looks how it should just not perfect (begin Generation I and all).--[[User:Force Fire|<span style="color:#025DA6">'''F'''</span><span style="color:#5A96C5">orce</span>]][[User talk:Force Fire|<span style="color:#EA1A3E">'''F'''</span><span style="color:#F16A81">ire</span>]] 02:13, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
== Blastoise Feet ==
I notice that Blastoise claws on its feet changing depending on the source. Some have 2 one the front, some have 3.  I was wondering if this was something we should add [[User:Bobosmith01|~Bobo]] ([[User talk:Bobosmith01|talk]]) 04:31, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
:Looking over the sprites and artwork available on this page, it appears to have three claws on the front of its feet. Its the different angles that make it look like two. In ''Pokemon Adventures'', it looks like it has two claws on its feet-you can see the other side of the foot in the selection shown in the article-just barely. [[User:Bobosmith01|~Bobo]] ([[User talk:Bobosmith01|talk]]) 05:24, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
== Other Sprites. ==
The HG and SS sprites are identical to D/P/PL's, they need to be removed. Same with the Blastoise FR/LG front sprite. That's already there. I'm not sure how to do this, so can someone handle it? [[User:Bobosmith01|~Bobo]] ([[User talk:Bobosmith01|talk]]) 23:04, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
:No and no; HGSS back sprites have differences in shading (the line on the arm at least), while the FRLG credits animation one in the other sprites section is clearly not simply replaceable by the static FRLG sprite. <font color="#3fff00">'''Soulweaver'''</font> (U.S.) ([[User:UltimateSephiroth|<font color="#3f7f00">about me</font>]] · [[User talk:UltimateSephiroth|<font color="#3f7f00">chat</font>]] · [[Special:Contributions/UltimateSephiroth|edits]]) 23:41, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
== Sprites ==
Uh, guys? Something happened to the sprites and I don't know how to fix it. {{unsigned|Lightningstrike43}}
:The ORAS Mega Shiny sprites just haven't been put on the Archives yet. It'll fix itself when someone puts up the images. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 04:23, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
::It's actually just that those two filenames haven't been made into redirects like the rest, for whatever reason. There weren't any changes in the models between the games. <small>[[User:Glik|glik]]</small>[[User talk:Glik|glak]] 04:33, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
== Turtle AND hippopotamus? ==
Giving the design of it's head and face and short tail; Blastoise resembles a hippopotamus as well as a turtle.[[User:Robbie|Robbie]] ([[User talk:Robbie|talk]]) 21:17, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
== Shell "flaps" vs. "box" ==
Somewhere up above, from several years back, there was a mention of the sprites changing over time -- newer versions have a "box" in the shell that the cannons come out of, older versions have raised, rounded "flaps" of the shell that the cannons come out from under.  This seems to have been dismissed as a "1st-gen sprites look weird" thing at the time, but I know I remember Blastoises without the "box" in more than just Red/Blue, so I looked around in the gallery.  Turns out the "rounded shell flaps" version isn't just a 1st-gen thing, Blastoise's sprites are designed that way all the way through the third generation!  The 4th-gen sprites are the first where it resembles a "box" all the way around the opening rather than just a raised part above (like one "scale" of the shell lifted up so the cannon could pop out from inside.)
The first-generation Sugimori art does not have the square "box" design either.  The original Red/Green art definitely shows the shell's segments opening up so the cannons can come out (the edges are rounder and there is no "box" enclosing the cannon on all sides, just a hole that the cannon is coming out of with a shell segment raised over it), and all the other older-style Sugimori art in the gallery also has the rounded shell-flaps rather than the "box" of the newer designs.  I am noticing that the anime seems to have always used the "box" design rather than the older games' "round shell-flaps" one, so it's possible that it's another case of the anime designs seeping into the games over time (like how the original Pikachu was much chubbier and less-humanoid than the anime's version, which over time became the one used in the games too.)  I'd say this looks like an actual design change over time and not just a case the Red/Green/Blue sprites being iffy. :As was already noted when this was brought up before, sprite changes are generally not notable. Readers can see for themselves when they look at the sprite box; if we don't have anything to say about it except "it exists", we shouldn't be mentioning it at all. == Blastoise's Base ==
Is Blastoise supposed to be a turtle, or is it supposed to be a tortoise? If you know, please select edit and tell me.([[User:Empoleon042806|gen-oner042806vencharblast]] ([[User talk:Empoleon042806|talk]]) 23:22, 14 April 2017 (UTC))
