::Ash's hair has been green since early Johto. It's actually almost never 'true' black. It's the same with Tracey who only had green hair in his official artwork until he reappeared later and his hair was no longer black. Ash's hair isn't "greener" when wet, it's always the same green. It's just slightly more noticeable when he takes his hat off. Ash's hair is just as green as Iris' hair is purple. (It's meant to be a more cartoonish black.
