Sweet and Tart Apples?
This simply needs research and documentation. From my experience:
- Near Hammerlocke's western Pokemon Center is a youth asking for an Applin; at the end of the cutscene he will give you a Tart Apple (in Pokemon Sword).
- It's possible that in Pokemon Shield, this NPC will give you a Sweet Apple instead.
I wouldn't consider it unusual if wild Applin can be found carrying either type of Apple, but they are already an uncommon encounter in the wild, so I can't confirm. --Stratelier 17:45, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Yes, in Shield you do get a Tart Apple in the same way. For more, I've found them as random drops (same apple as given in Hammerlocke) under the tree on Axew's Eye island, along with two cooking apples. It's not there every day, so drop research needed. SJ (talk) 10:30, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
Leveling Rate
Is notable that the Applin line are the only Pokémon in the Erratic leveling rate introduced after Gen IV? LaprasLaplace 15:53, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Branched evolution trivium
While yes, the Applin family being a branched evolution with more than two branches is not unique, I feel it's still worth noting, given that it's been seven whole generations since the last time a new family was introduced with more than two branches. Similar drought trivia is often permitted, such as Pawmi and Pawmo being the first electric rodents since Pichu to be able to evolve. An electric rodent being able to evolve isn't unique, but the long gap in time makes it notable. I think we could include something along the lines of "With the introduction of Dripplin, Applin and its evolved forms are the first new evolution line to have more than two branched evolutions since the introduction of Tyrogue and Hitmontop seven generations earlier." - This trivium was worded in a weird way before. As a "drought" trivium it is fine. I'm not sure if it needs clarification that Applin didn't have three evolutions since its own introduction and that Eevee getting new and new evolutions doesn't count because it already qualified here since generation I.--Rocket Grunt 09:17, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
