Gender

Jasmine refers to Amphy as Akari-chan in Japanese media. Would that mean that Amphy is female? --Maxim 16:40, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Not really. The anime Crayon Shin-chan comes to mind that males also have -chan in their name. And there are confirmed male Pokémon in the manga with -chan in their nickname. Mostly given out by girls. --ケンジガール 18:54, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

I hate to bring up an old discussion, but a couple of my friends have had male Ampharos out on the top floor of the Lighthouse and talked to them, and it said they fell in love with Amphy. My female Ampharos didn't fall in love. Proof that Amphy's female? --ルレ 20:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm not so sure. My male Typhlosion and my female Ampharos both fell in love with Amphy, although my Ampharos does behave unusually in other places. Could be a bug (or maybe i have a lesbian Ampharos).Chammy 13:42, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Amphy. Game canon trumps fail 4Kids dubs. TTEchidna 03:57, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Prima is a good example of this same situation. Shiny Pika 01:28, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
