If you were looking for the villainous team sometimes abbreviated to TR, see Team Rocket.
If you were looking for the the Trading Card Game set that uses this abbreviation, see Team Rocket (TCG).

A Technical Record (Japanese: わざレコード Move Record), or TR for short, is a type of item introduced in Generation VIII that can be used to teach a Pokémon a move. They are single-use items that are consumed after use, and once a TR is used to teach a Pokémon a move, that move can later be relearned from the Move Reminder for free if forgotten. This makes them functionally similar to TMs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, TRs are found in the Wild Area, where they can be received as rewards for completing Max Raid Battles or can be exchanged for Watts with Watt Traders throughout the area. In The Isle of Armor, TRs can be found throughout the island or created by combining specific items with the Cram-o-matic. TRs can also be found across the Crown Tundra.

The ordering of TRs tends to follow the order of introduction of the moves contained in them. However, TR25 (Psyshock) is listed between TRs that contain moves introduced in Generation II, despite Psyshock being introduced in Generation V.

Fling can be used if the user is holding a TR. Its power is equal to the listed power of the contained move, defaulting to 10 if the move does not have a listed power.
