Tōru Furuya (Japanese: 古谷徹 Furuya Tōru) is a Japanese voice actor for the Pokémon anime. He is also sometimes credited as Noboru Sōgetsu (蒼月 昇 Sōgetsu Noboru).

Biography

Furuya was born on July 31, 1953, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He already started an acting career as a child, being part of the children's acting troupe Gekidan Himawari. As an adult, he started landing a number of famous roles, usually in anime series. Furuya occasionally provided his voice for the Pokémon anime since the original series, though he was best known as the Castelia City Gym Leader Burgh, who appeared in Pokémon the Series: Black & White. He is currently affiliated with the talent agency Aoni Production. He was married to fellow voice actress Mami Koyama from 1976 to 1983, and is now married to another voice actress, Satomi Majima.
