It [[Evolution|evolve]]s from {{p|Bonsly}} via [[level]]-up while knowing {{m|Mimic}}.

Sudowoodo has a brown, log-shaped body with some yellow spots on it. It has short legs with toe-less feet. Sudowoodo has club (♣) shaped hands that remain green year-round. Sudowoodo has a forked "branch" on top of its head.

A female has shorter "branches" on the top of its head.

Sudowoodo is most known for {{M|Mimic}}king its opponents' attacks. Sudowoodo is protected from receiving recoil damage when using attacks like {{m|Wood Hammer}} and {{m|Double-Edge}}. As a Rock-type Pokémon, Sudowoodo is capable of a wide variety of  {{t|Rock}} and {{t|Ground}} attacks such as {{m|Stone Edge}} and {{m|Earthquake}}. It can also learn {{t|Fighting}}-type attacks, such as {{m|Hammer Arm}} and {{m|Brick Break}}. Sudowoodo can also learn {{m|Calm Mind}}, which is strange due to the fact that {{m|Hidden Power}}, {{m|Mud-Slap}}, and {{m|Snore}} (the latter two only from [[move tutor]]s in {{v2|Emerald}}) are the only [[Special move]]s that Sudowoodo can use (and very poorly on that note).  Even stranger is the fact that Sudowoodo lacks the ability to use {{m|Hyper Beam}} and {{m|Giga Impact}}, despite being a fully evolved Pokémon.

Sudowoodo pretends to be a plant, but it is afraid of water, and its composition is closer to a rock than to a plant.

Sudowoodo can be found living in forests.  But finding one can sometimes be a little tricky, since Sudowoodo have the aforementioned habit of pretending to be a tree in order to blend in with their surroundings.  

However, during winters, Sudowoodo's camouflage fails. It's forearms remain green, even in winter, thus it is easily spotted from true trees. This may cause massive migrations of sudowoodo to more southern areas, where the winter may not affect its camouflage.

Sudowoodo first appeared in ''[[EP162|Type Casting]]''. Two Pokémon researchers were arguing whether Sudowoodo was a {{t|Grass}}- or {{type2|Rock}}.

A Sudowoodo was pretending to be part of a tree in ''[[Camp Pikachu]]''.

A [[alternate coloration|Golden]] Sudowoodo appeared in ''[[AG173|All That Glitters is Not Golden]]''. A boy named [[Keenan]] experimented on his Sudowoodo to make it strong against {{t|Water}} and it turned golden. The Sudowoodo was upset with the change, and hated Keenan for what he did to it. Keenan managed to turn his Sudowoodo back to normal at the end of the episode.

Brock's Bonsly evolved into {{TP|Brock|Sudowoodo}} in ''[[DP014|Leave It To Brocko]]''.

In {{PSV|9}}, a Sudowoodo disguises itself as a tree in the middle of {{rt|37}}, hiding from a {{p|Rhydon}}. {{Special|Gold}} convinced Sudowoodo not to run away from its problems, and Sudowoodo went on to defeat Rhydon in hand-to-hand combat. It soon after joined Gold's team.

A Sudowoodo is captured by {{Special|Emerald}} at the {{ho|Battle Frontier}}. It appears to be a female Sudowoodo, due to its motherly nature.

Sudowoodo is a Poké Float. After {{p|Wooper}} first appears, it will move down the right of the screen while Sudowoodo is on the left. Unlike most of the Poké Floats, players are not required to ever go on Sudowoodo. A trophy of Sudowoodo can be obtained after playing on the Poké Floats stage.
