Staravia (Japanese: ムクバード Mukubird) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

Staravia evolves from Starly at Level 14 and evolves into Staraptor at Level 34.
It evolves from Starly starting at level 14 and evolves into Staraptor starting at level 34.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Staravia is a grayish-brown, avian Pokémon with black and white markings. Its head and upper body are primarily black with an "M"-shaped pattern over its white chest. On its forehead is a grayish-brown spot, which is smaller on the female. On its face is a white, mask-like marking with a pattern of spikes along the lower edge. It has small, black eyes with white pupils and a long, orange beak with a black tip. On the back of its head is a long tuft of feathers, which curves forward. The lower halves of its wings are black, and it has black tail feathers with a single white feather in the center. Its orange, Bird anatomy#Feet feet have black talons.
Staravia has a small M pattern on its chest, likely for its Japanese name of Mukubird. Its eyes are bent inward to give an intimidating look to make its prey wary.
Gender differences
The gray spot on a female's forehead is smaller.

Special abilities
Starvia have large wings that allow them to take flight for a long period of time. These wings can also allow Staravia to fly with much agility, which can come in handy when they are flying through forests.

Behavior
Staravia tend to live in large flocks with other Staravia or with other bird Pokémon, such as Starly and Swellow. If two rival Staravia meet, they may fight ferociously with each other. They spend a large amount of time each day preening their feathers, searching for food, or spending time with others of the colony. Staravia are bitter rivals with Pidgeotto, who compete for much of the same food and territory. Luckily, they are mostly exclusive to Sinnoh and Kanto, respectively.

Habitat
Staravia live in forests or plains.

Diet
Pokémon food

Staravia mainly eat Bug Pokémon, which they hunt for in flocks.

In the anime
A Staravia made a cameo in Following a Maiden Voyage.
Staravia lives near forests and fields, where it hunts for Bug Pokémon. Aware of its own weakness, it forms flocks of its own kind and cries noisily if left on its own. However, these flocks can be extremely territorial. When two different groups meet, they will have fierce territorial disputes. A strong Staravia can be identified by the plume it has on its head.

Ash's Starly evolved into a Staravia in A Staravia is Born.
Evolution
Staravia evolves from Starly and evolves into Staraptor.
