Staraptor (Japanese: ムクホーク Mukuhawk) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Staravia starting at level 34. It is the final form of Starly.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Staraptor is a grayish-brown, avian Pokémon similar to a large bird of prey. It has small, red eyes and a thin, yellow beak with a black tip. There is a circular white patch on its forehead, which is smaller on the female. Larger white markings cover the front of its throat and chest, separated by a black ruff encircling the shoulders. A red-tipped black crest extends over its head, nearly reaching the tip of its beak. Staraptor is fussy about the shape of this comb, which it uses to appear larger and frighten enemies. It has large wings, five black-tipped tail feathers, and yellow feet with black talons. Its powerful wing and leg muscles allow it to fly effortlessly while carrying other Pokémon, small or large.
Staraptor bears a resemblance to a cross between a large gray and white starling and a hawk. It also shares similarities with the harpy eagle. Staraptor’s plumage is mainly a brownish-gray, but has white coloration on its forehead, throat, and chest. It also has black coloration on its crest, neck, and chest pattern, and black tipping on the tailfeathers. The stylized "M" pattern on the center of its chest resembles the first letter of its Japanese name (Mukuhawk). The downward-facing, red-tipped crest on its head makes it appear larger in order to frighten its enemies.
Gender differences
A female has a smaller white spot on its forehead.

Special abilities
Upon evolution, this Pokémon leaves its flock to live alone, as it has become strong enough to take care of itself. It can be highly aggressive, persistently attacking even larger foes in spite of illness or injury.
Staraptor have enough strength to carry a person on its back and fly to distant places. They can also fly at very high speeds, presumably around the speed of other fully-evolved Flying Pokémon such as Pidgeot or Swellow.

Behavior
Evolution
Staraptor are highly aggressive and dangerous Flying bird Pokémon. Much like Taillow, Staraptor is a tenacious Pokémon, and never stops attacking even if it is injured. When Staravia evolve into Staraptor, they leave the flock to live alone. Staraptor fusses over the shape of its comb.
Staraptor evolves from Staravia and is the final form of Starly.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
Staraptor live in an array of habitats including open forest, grassland, wetland, mountains, and coniferous forests.

Origin
Origin
Staraptor is based on the white-cheeked starling, a common species of bird found throughout Asia, combined with a bird of prey. Although it largely resembles the starling in appearance, much of its inspiration comes from hawks and falcons, particularly its predatory nature and aerial speed. It also has strong similarities to the harpy eagle.
