Route 203 (Japanese: 203ばんどうろ Route 203) is a route in western Sinnoh, connecting Jubilife City and Oreburgh Gate.

Route description

Route 203 connects Oreburgh City in the east and Jubilife City in the west. Despite being near such a big town, this path retains its relaxed, natural atmosphere. The path starts off from the west and trails off up a flight of stairs. There will be a few patches of grass and a small pond. If the player goes up another flight of stairs they will reach the top of the hill, where there will be a large patch of grass across the ledge. There is also another flight of stairs going down to the north of the route to reach a small area of grass behind the pond.

After players obtain the Pokétch, this route is where they will face their rival for the first time in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and the second time in Pokémon Platinum. The Pokémon in his party will vary depending on the player's first partner Pokémon.

Route 203 in Pokémon Adventures

Diamond & Pearl arc

Route 203 appeared in Extreme Luxio, where Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were seen traveling through the route on their way to Oreburgh City. They were suddenly attacked by a wild Luxio, which took Platinum hostage, forcing Diamond and Pearl to battle it. In the middle of the battle, Pearl noticed that Luxio's claws were broken, and realized that since Shinx and Luxio communicate through electrical pulses from their claws, this Luxio was being rejected by its pride due to its inability to communicate with them. Using his and Diamond's comedy duo act as a basis, Pearl was able to come up with a way for the Luxio to communicate with its pride again, which accepted it back in, freeing Platinum and allowing the trio of Trainers to continue their journey.
