Sinnoh Grand Festival: Difference between revisions

The '''Sinnoh Grand Festival''' is an event that is currently taking place in the {{pkmn|anime}} during the {{series|Diamond & Pearl}}. [[Pokémon Coordinator]]s who wish to enter it need five [[ribbon]]s won from the [[Sinnoh]] region {{pkmn|Contest}}s in order to do so.  

In ''[[DP041|A Stand-Up Sit-Down!]]'', Zoey mentioned that the Sinnoh Grand Festival will have a [[Double Performance|double performance]] round. In [[DP163]], [[Marian]] announced that it would be held at [[Lake Valor]], the site of the most recent [[Wallace Cup]].

The Grand Festival started in [[DP174]], and like all Sinnoh Contests, [[Marian]] is the announcer. Instead of the usual three judges, the Grand Festival has six judges in attendance. As well as [[Raoul Contesta|Mr. Contesta]], [[Mr. Sukizo]] and [[Lilycove City]]'s [[Nurse Joy]] there are two other Nurse Joys in attendance as well as a special guest judge: [[Fantina]], the [[Hearthome Gym]] [[Gym Leader|Leader]] and Contest master.

Due to there being so many entrants to the Grand Festival, the appeal stage was divided up onto three stages; the Red Stage, the Green Stage, and the Blue Stage. Each coordinator performed on one of the stages for two of the judges. Each judging team consisting of a Nurse Joy alongside Mr. Contesta (Blue Stage), Mr. Sukizo (Green Stage), or Fantina (Red Stage). The stages can be modified for each coordinator (for instance, when Zoey appealed with her {{p|Gastrodon}} and {{p|Lumineon}} the stage transformed into a pool which was perfect for the two {{type2|Water}} Pokémon to use). Unlike the other Grand Festivals, Sinnoh's Grand Festival only has one appeal round instead of two. Once everyone had appealed, the Top 32 coordinators progressed to the second round.

The second round marked the beginning of the Grand Festival's battle rounds marking some changes to the layout. First, now there were only 32 coordinators left the battles were conducted on a single stage, and also the amount of judges had been reduced from six to four (Mr. Contesta, Mr. Sukizo, Nurse Joy and Fantina). Apart from that, the battles proceeded in a normal contest manner, with each coordinator using two Pokémon in their battles. Any coordiantor who ran out of points, had their Pokémon [[Unable to battle|knocked out]] or had the least amount of points once the time ran out were eliminated from the Grand Festival.
