Trivia

  • Shroomish is the only Grass-type to learn Wake-Up Slap via breeding, despite not possessing hands.
  • Shroomish is able to learn False Swipe via the Shadow Shroomish being purified in Pokémon XD, yet it does not posses claws or any other objects to slice with. It learns the move immediately after purification.
  • Shroomish and its evolved form, Breloom, share their species name with Paras, Parasect, Foongus, Amoonguss. They are all known as Mushroom Pokémon.
  • Shroomish can be seen as a parallel to Paras. Both of them are Grass-type Pokémon. Shroomish is exclusive to Pokémon Black, while Paras is exclusive to Pokémon White, with both Pokémon found in a Mass Outbreak in the same location in their respective versions. Additionally, both are based on fungi.

Origin

Shroomish is based on a mushroom.

Name origin

Shroomish's name is derived from mushroom and the suffix -ish, meaning -like, or the word skirmish, since Shroomish's evolved form is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

Kinococo is a combination of 茸 kinoko, mushrooms, and 子 ko, child.
