Shinobu (Japanese: シノブ Shinobu) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime who appeared in The Legend of the Ninja Hero! and A Festival of Decisions!. She lives in Ninja Village and serves as former chief Hanzo's personal assistant. Despite her youthful appearance, she is in fact a lady who is a hundred years old.
History
Shinobu first appeared alongside Hanzo in The Legend of the Ninja Hero!, where she welcomed Ash and his friends to the village. She also attended Sanpei's Pokémon battle with his brother Nihei.
Later, Ninja Village was attacked by Kagetomo and his Ninja Corps. During the attack, she tried to protect Hanzo at the chief's house, but failed and Hanzo was captured. As Ash and Sanpei chased after Hanzo's kidnappers, Shinobu and Ash's friends decided to help the other villagers. After meeting up with Ippei and Nihei, she and Serena got caught by a device from Team Rocket; however, thanks to her ninja techniques, they easily escaped.
After Kagetomo's forces had retreated, Shinobu joined Ippei counter-offensive to rescue Hanzo from Kagetomo on Otori Mountain. Upon arriving at Otori Mountain in A Festival of Decisions!, the group was attacked by Heidayu and several ninjas. Shinobu sent out her Liepard to battle the ninja's Pokémon and, together with Serena, Clemont, and Nihei, managed to defeat them. After Kagetomo had been defeated and Ippei had been given the title of chieftain, Shinobu was seen again saying goodbye to Ash and his friends the next day. After the group's departure she joined Hanzo, Ippei, Sanpei, Nihei, and Saizo in a conversation about the mysterious power of Ash's Greninja.
Character
Shinobu appears inconspicuous because she cleverly disguises her true appearance for a deceptively youthful one. She has wisdom and plenty of tricks, often using the ninja body switch technique to free herself of awkward situations.

Trivia
- Shinobu's habit of hiding her true age may be a reference to Tsunade Senju from the Naruto series, who also uses a ninjutsu to make herself look young despite in reality being an elderly person.
