Satoru Iwata (Japanese: 岩田 聡, born December 6, 1959) is the president and CEO of Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Iwata's involvement with Pokémon started with the development of the first Pokémon Stadium game. He was still the president of HAL Laboratory at the time, and helped Nintendo with various projects. He served as a producer for each of the Pokémon Stadium games, and as a Director for Super Smash Bros.

In 2000, Satoru Iwata was named the new president of Nintendo Co., Ltd after the retirement of Hiroshi Yamaguchi, since then his involvement with the franchise has grown even more.
