Espeon first appeared as a lost {{p|Eevee}} while {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} took a break in a Takoyaki restaurant. {{an|Misty}} decided to hug it as she found it cute. While the group were about to head over to the tea-ceremony, the Eevee's owner, Sakura, comes up and Misty returned the Eevee to her. After arriving in the tea-ceremony where the [[Kimono Girl]]s who were Sakura's sisters, {{TRT}} were also there and Sakura sent out her Eevee to take them on. It was then revealed that Eevee was the only unevolved Pokémon owned by one of the Kimono Sisters, in a similar situation to [[EP040|a previous episode]]. During its battle with {{TP|Jessie|Arbok}}, Eevee became badly injured after Arbok defeated it, leaving the protagonists to finish the trio off instead. While Misty and Sakura were discussing about their sisters, Eevee was seen happily playing with {{TP|Misty|Togepi}}. When Team Rocket came back with the plan of stealing the Kimono Sisters's Pokémon, Sakura sent out Eevee once more to take on {{TP|James|Victreebel}} and like last time, it was badly beaten. Victreebel then threw Eevee in the cages. However, it was freed by Tamao's Umbreon after Team Rocket's plan of getting the [[Eeveelutions|evolutions of Eevee]] backfired. When Ash and his friends were leaving to [[Olivine City]], Eevee and Sakura waved goodbye to them.

Sometime before ''[[EP226|Espeon, Not Included]]'', Eevee had already evolved into {{p|Espeon}}. As Ash and his friends walked back to Ecruteak City, they were planning on meeting up with Sakura and then her Espeon showed up. Sakura revealed to the group that it evolved from her Eevee and it now completes her sisters's Eevee evolutions. As the group went to Sakura's house, Espeon had a battle with [[Misty's Corsola]]. Even though Espeon was about to win, Corsola countered with a combination of {{m|Recover}} and a supereffective {{m|Pin Missile}} which took out the {{type|Psychic}}. After Team Rocket's plan of catching the Eevee evolutions became successful, Sakura decided to use Espeon as bait in order to lure Team Rocket to them. As they caught Espeon with a net, Sakura and the gang follow the trio and Espeon went up to Sakura as [[James]] was about to cage it. During a battle with Team Rocket, Espeon teamed up with Corsola and single handedly took out Arbok and Victreebel, leaving {{AP|Pikachu}} to finish the trio off. With Team Rocket defeated, Espeon freed the captured Pokémon with {{m|Swift}}. Seeing Sakura's actions with Espeon, the sisters decide to have Sakura set off on a journey of her own.

Espeon reappeared in ''[[SS005|The Blue Badge of Courage]]'' where it reunited with Misty and Sakura wanted to have a rematch with her as she and Espeon were confident. As Misty didn't have any {{badge|Cascade}}s left, the group went to [[Rifure Village]] where Espeon noticed a man, [[Kinso]], injured. As they head to a cabin, Espeon was seen working with the group as Kinso had them do so in order to earn the badges that were being made. Later, when the [[Gym Badge thieves]] stole some Cascade Badges, Espeon, along with [[Misty's Psyduck]] took on their {{p|Zigzagoon}} and {{p|Poochyena}} and the opposing Pokémon were finished off by Psyduck's {{m|Confusion}}. Back at the Gym, Espeon battled Misty's Corsola in a rematch and won, earning Sakura a Cascade Badge. Espeon was last seen leaving with Sakura and {{Tracey}}, while waving goodbye to Misty.
