Sacred Fire (Japanese: せいなるほのお Sacred Fire) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation VI, it was the signature move of Ho-Oh.
Effect
Generations II to VII
Sacred Fire inflicts damage, with a 50% chance of burning the target. If the user is frozen, using Sacred Fire will thaw out the user and deal damage to the target in the same turn.
Sacred Fire can also be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining extra four appeal points if the move Sunny Day was used in the prior turn.
Generation VIII
In Versions 1.0 to 1.2.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Sacred Fire could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.3.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in previous generations.
