==Biology==

Regigigas is the [[signature move|only known Pokémon]] capable of learning the move {{m|Crush Grip}}. Prior to [[Generation IX]], {{a|Slow Start}} was its [[Signature Ability|signature]] [[Ability]].

Regigigas debuted in ''[[M11|Giratina and the Sky Warrior]]''. It lives in a temple in the mountains of [[Ten'i Village]] and had been asleep for centuries, subsequently having moss growing on its feet and shoulders. However, when [[Zero]] entered the [[Reverse World]] and began shattering pillars of ice within it, the glacier in front of Regigigas' temple suffered catastrophic explosions and began moving. This disturbed its slumber, rousing it into action. When [[Dawn's Buneary]] and {{TP|Dawn|Swinub}} failed to stop the glacier with the help of a large group of [[wild Pokémon]], Regigigas appeared and commanded a herd of dozens of {{p|Mamoswine}} to hold the glacier back. Once the crisis was resolved, Regigigas returned to its temple. It was last seen using {{m|Hyper Beam}} on {{TRT}} during the ending credits.

==Trivia==

** Regigigas and Slaking also have the highest base {{stat|Attack}} stat of all Normal-type {{OBP|Pokémon|species}}.

* In Platinum, by hacking to obtain [[Cherish Ball]]s, it is possible to trick the game into opening {{si|Rock Peak Ruins|Rock Peak}}, {{si|Iceberg Ruins|Iceberg}}, and {{si|Iron Ruins}}: by catching the in-game Regigigas in a Cherish Ball, the game thinks the Regigigas was obtained at an event.

* Regigigas is the only [[Generation IV]] Legendary Pokémon whose Attack stat is higher than its {{stat|Special Attack}} stat.

* Regigigas, {{p|Magikarp}}, and {{p|Gyarados}} are the three {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that can be encountered in the {{pkmn2|wild}} at the lowest and highest levels.

* Regigigas and {{p|Eternatus}} have very similar category names in Japanese, with the only difference being in how they're written: Regigigas's category name is in {{wp|hiragana}} (きょだいポケモン), while Eternatus's category name is in {{wp|katakana}} (キョダイポケモン). In either case, the category name is pronounced the same: {{tt|''Kyodai Pokémon''|Gigantic Pokémon}}.

* In [[Pokémon Legends: Arceus]], Regigigas is the only Legendary Pokémon whose [[Research task (Legends: Arceus)|research tasks]] for the [[Pokédex]] do not involve seeing it use its [[signature move]].

===Origin===

Regigigas also seems to have parallels to the Legendary Golem of Prague, whose immense power also intimidated people. This ultimately resulted in it being overrun and sealed away in an attic. Conversely, Regigigas was sealed in a basement. It being sealed could also be a reference to the aftermath of the {{wp|titanomachy}}, which resulted in the titans being imprisoned away in the underworld.
