The {{an|guardian deities}} of [[Alola]] are a group of [[Legendary Pokémon]] that appeared in the {{series|Sun & Moon}}. They have appeared at various times during {{Ash}}'s [[island challenge]], at times to help him and {{ashfr}}, and at other times to test him and his Pokémon. They play an important part in the story line, especially in the case of the {{p|Solgaleo}} and {{p|Lunala}}, their pre-evolutions, as well as the [[Ultra Beast]]s.

A {{shiny}} Tapu Koko from an [[Ultra Ruin|alternate version]] of [[Melemele Island]] appeared in ''[[SM100|Battling the Beast Within!]]'' and ''[[SM101|Parallel Friendships!]]'', where watched over Ash and {{al|Dia}}, eventually helping them by giving them Z-Power to enable them to use {{m|Gigavolt Havoc}}.

A flock of {{p|Pikipek}} led by a {{p|Trumbeak}} and a {{p|Toucannon}} made several appearances in the anime. They were the foster family of [[Ash's Rowlet]] before he {{pkmn2|caught}} it, and have come to its aid on more than one occasion to teach it new [[move]]s.

Solgaleo and Lunala both debuted in ''[[SM044|A Dream Encounter!]]'', where they appeared to [[Ash Ketchum]] in a dream after descending to the [[Altar of the Sunne]] through two [[Ultra Wormhole]]s. There, they created a {{p|Cosmog}}, which Ash later found and took care of. The Cosmog was then given the name [[Nebby]] by {{an|Lillie}}. Nebby later evolved into {{p|Cosmoem}} during the events of ''[[SM050|Faba's Revenge!]]'' after being forced by {{an|Faba}} to open an Ultra Wormhole. In ''[[SM052|Revealing the Stuff of Legend!]]'', the [[guardian deities]] helped Nebby evolve into Solgaleo after performing a ritual. Nebby assisted Ash and {{ashcl}} in rescuing {{an|Lusamine}} from {{DL|Recurring wild Pokémon in the anime|Nihilego}} in [[Ultra Deep Sea]] before returning to the wild in ''[[SM055|The Professors' New Adventure!]]''.

Solgaleo and Lunala appeared in ''[[SM074|Tough Guy Trials!]]'' in a fantasy, along with {{DL|List of Pokémon with form differences|Necrozma|Ultra Necrozma}}, as part of a legend that explains the origins of [[Alola]] and how the three brought light into the [[region]].

The Ultra Beasts are a group of {{DL|Extraterrestrial Pokémon|extradimensional Pokémon}} originating from [[Ultra Space]] that appeared in the {{series|Sun & Moon}}. Many of them were the subject of missions taken by {{Ash}} and {{ashcl}} in their capacity as [[Ultra Guardians]], in order to maintain the safety of the [[Alola]] [[region]] whenever they stray into the [[Pokémon world]].

Drampa, also known as '''Grandpa Forest''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|森|もり}}のおじいちゃん''' ''Grandpa Forest''), debuted in ''[[SM059|Tasting the Bitter with the Sweet!]]''. In the past, it saved a young {{an|Lana}} and {{an|Mallow}} when they fell off a cliff.
