Raymond was stunned by the defeat, such that in the Japanese version, he exclaimed ''"Oh my God!!!"'' in English. The match also caught the attention of {{OBP|Mewtwo|original series}}'s {{p|Fearow}}, and this led to Ash being invited to [[New Island]].
