It [[Evolution|evolves]] into {{p|Kirlia}} starting at [[level]] 20, which evolves into {{p|Gardevoir}} starting at level 30 or, if male, {{p|Gallade}} when exposed to a {{evostone|Dawn Stone}}.

Ralts is a bipedal Pokémon with a white body. Its body and legs seem to resemble a nightgown or an oversized dress. Its green hair resembles a {{wp|bowl cut}}, which covers most of its face. Its hair is split by two flat red horns, a large one toward the front and a smaller one at the back. A view from below shows that it has a pair of pinkish red eyes.

Ralts uses the horns on its head to read people and Pokémon's emotions. It is known to inhabit {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Urban Pokémon|urban areas}}, but it does not normally show itself to humans. However, when it senses happy feelings, it will approach people. If its {{pkmn|Trainer}} is in a cheerful mood, it also becomes cheerful and joyous. If it senses warm feelings, its body will slightly warm up. It takes cover if it senses hostility.

Ralts debuted in the {{pkmn|anime}} in the episode ''[[AG109|Do I Hear a Ralts?]]'' [[Max]] found [[Max#Befriended|one]] that was very sick and decided to prove his abilities by taking responsibility for it. With the help of {{AP|Ash's Snorunt|Glalie}}, he rushed it to the nearest [[Pokémon Center]]. He later promised to return for Ralts when he is eligible to be a {{pkmn|Trainer}}.

However, for most of the {{chap|Ruby & Sapphire}}, Rara is with {{adv|Wally}} after Ruby was lost in an earthquake that left him under [[Mr. Briney]]'s care (where he learned of the beautiful {{p|Milotic}} that [[Feefee]] eventually evolved into). While training with Wally under [[Norman]]'s command, Rara evolves into a {{p|Kirlia}} and is eventually returned to Ruby.
