Release information

This card was first released as part of the Extended Sheet 1 of the Vending Machine cards with artwork by Yuuki Kawamura, one of the winners of the Pokémon Card Game Illust Artist Contest. This was the first CoroCoro illustration contest, announced October 15, 1997 in the November 1997 issue of CoroCoro Comic. Winners were announced in the January 1998 issue and three top winners received 20 copies of the card featuring their illustration as well as a copy of Pokémon Illustrator. This card was later reprinted in the Red Deck of the Quick Starter Gift Set.

Trivia

Origin

Mega Punch and Hydro Pump are both moves in the Pokémon games that Poliwrath can learn, the former only via TM01 (Generation I) or Move Tutor (Generation III), and the latter only as a Poliwhirl. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Blue.
