Pokémon Jump

Pokémon Jump is a mini game which can be played over the wireless communication system in Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald. This mini game cannot be played alone and is restricted to Pokémon that are 0.7 m (2'4") or less in height and are capable of jumping.

This is one of two games included in the Joyful Game Corner wireless gaming center located on Two Island in the Sevii Islands. The other playable game at the Joyful Game Corner is Dodrio Berry Picking. Neither Pokémon Jump nor Dodrio Berry Picking are available for play on Ruby and Sapphire as those games do not use the Wireless Adapter System.

Red, Blue, Saur, and Blue's Charizard on the Path of Skipping

The Pokémon Jump appeared as part of a training method designed by Kimberly in order to teach Red and Blue the ultimate moves: Frenzy Plant and Blast Burn, respectively. During the training, Blue had his Charizard grab Saur's vine and run with it while Red and Blue had to jump-rope over it without falling. The Pokémon Jump was named the Path of Skipping in this adaptation.

Trivia

  • Chikorita is the only starter Pokémon which cannot be used, due to being 0.9 m (2'11").
  • Porygon2 and Bellossom are the only evolved Pokémon allowed at 0.6 m (2'00") and 0.4 m (1'04") respectively, while their previous evolutions are not (both at 0.8 m / 2'07").
  • Despite the game requiring Pokémon capable of jumping, Kakuna, Silcoon, and Cascoon are all eligible, despite their obvious immobility. Metapod is also eligible; however, in the anime, Bugsy's Metapod was more than capable of jumping.
