Trivia

  • This card is commonly known as Snap Pikachu in reference to Pokémon Snap, the source of the illustration.
  • The camera graphic was also used on ten other Japanese promotional cards featuring photos taken in Pokémon Snap for the CoroCoro Best Photo Contest and 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Contest, both held in May 1999. These prints were all printed on normal card stock.
  • This is the only English Pokémon card to have "Photo." instead of "Illus." where the illustrator name is traditionally placed.
  • The Spanish print released in the Pikachu World Collection 2000 set incorrectly attributes the illustration to "Gakuji Nomoro"

Origin

Scratch and Thunderbolt are both moves in the Pokémon games. Pikachu can learn Thunderbolt, but not Scratch. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Yellow, though it is reworded.
