Despite its name, Pidgeot does not resemble a {{wp|pigeon}} so much as a {{wp|bird of prey}} such as an {{wp|osprey}} or an {{wp|Aquila (genus)|eagle}} due to its large size and predatory behavior. The long, colorful {{wp|crest (feathers)|crest}} of feathers on its head is somewhat similar to the crests of {{wp|cockatoo}}s. The black markings around its eyes cause it to resemble the sun and sky gods of {{wp|Egyptian mythology}}, {{wp|Ra}} and {{wp|Horus}}, who are depicted with the heads of {{wp|falcon}}s. Its {{Shiny}} colors resemble a {{wp|golden eagle}}.
