Pelipper (Japanese: ペリッパー Pelipper) is a dual-type Water/Flying Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
Pelipper resembles a stylized pelican. Like its prevolution, it has no discernible neck and its head and bill appears to make up a majority of its body. Its feathers are primarily white, with the exception of a yellow underbelly, blue wingtips and blue head crest. It has large wings with 3 "digits", small blue webbed feet, a short tail, and unusual eyes which seem to consist of two black semi-circles. Pelipper's most notable feature is its massive bill and throat pouch, which it uses for a variety of purposes.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Pelipper can store various objects in their large, sturdy bills. They have been known to carry small creatures in them to protect them from predators. Pelipper has access to both Water and Flying-type moves and, as a fully-evolved Pokémon, can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
Pelipper searches for food while in flight by skimming the wave tops. When Pelipper spots prey, it dips its large bill into the sea to scoop up its numerous food items along with water in one motion. It then swallows everything in one big gulp.
Habitat
Pelipper build their nests on steep cliffs that border the sea, but are often also seen near estuaries and shipyards.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Pelipper take their prey (likely fish and other small aquatic creatures) from the ocean, scooping from the water with their bills.
In the anime
Major appearances
In You Said a Mouthful!, a Trainer named Anthony has a Pelipper that he used to challenge other Trainers to battle in an unofficial Gym. Anthony was exposed as a cheater because he stuffed several Poké Balls containing smaller Pokémon into the Pelipper's bill.
In Sky High Gym Battle!, Winona used a Pelipper against Ash during the Gym Battle. This Pelipper had a unique way handling its weakness to Electrical attacks, Winona having it strike the ground with Steel Wing and pass the electricity harmlessly into the ground. Despite this clever tactic, it was defeated by Pikachu.
Minor appearances
Pelipper first appeared in Hoenn Alone!.
Georgio owns a Pelipper that he used to send a letter to Misty and chase Butch and Cassidy in A Date With Delcatty.

Trivia
Origin
Pelipper resembles a pelican.
Name origin
Pelipper may be a combination of pelican and skipper (a rank of sailor) or flipper (referring to its webbed feet). It may also be a combination of pelican and propeller (such as those used by submarines, due to its aquatic nature).
