The Power of Dreams (Japanese: ゼクロムVSレシラム IV Zekrom VS Reshiram IV or 英雄 Hero) is the 523rd chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga.

Plot

As the Elite Four chase after Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, Marshal leads them in an attack on the three Forces of Nature, sending out their own Pokémon to do battle. Meanwhile, Grimsley observes Hood Man watching on the sidelines; Hood Man notes that the Forces of Nature's emotions have heightened from the intense battle, and produces a mirror from his cloak to force out their "true power".

In Team Plasma's castle, Black finds that N and Zorua have fallen asleep, believing the battle between to have ended. As his Pokémon gather around, Black reconciles with Musha, affirming their bond to N. The moment is interrupted by Ghetsis, descending on his Hydreigon, berating N for his actions and referring to N as his adopted son. Ghetsis reveals the nature of his relationship with N to a stunned Black: N was chosen to lead Team Plasma and unleash Zekrom from the Dark Stone, becoming an ideal leader to subjugate the Pokémon League and convince the citizens of Unova to release their Pokémon, thus allowing Team Plasma to take full control of the region. Everything had gone according to plan until N decided that, in order to fully assume the role of a hero, he had to defeat Black - the Trainer aligned with Reshiram. Ghetsis mocks N for his idealism and loss to Black, but assures Black that his master plan will continue unimpeded when Ghetsis gets rid of Black, ordering Hydreigon to burn Black to a crisp.

Seeing that Reshiram is exhausted from the battle with N, Black sends in the rest of his team to do battle, but Ghetsis counters Black's team with his Eelektross against Brav and Costa, Seismitoad against Bo and Cofagrigus against Musha. With Tula just as trapped by Hydregion's fire, Black realizes that Ghetsis's Pokémon all have type advantages against his, and Ghetsis confirms that after Black interfered with Team Plasma's plans so often, he built a team specifically to counter Black's. Ghetsis declares that by destroying Black, he'll be able to hide the "inconvenient truth" of N's defeat, and continue to lead Team Plasma as their hero, convincing the rest of Unova's citizens to release their Pokémon until Team Plasma are the only ones with Pokémon on hand. Trapped by the fire, Black exclaims that Ghetsis's ideal is the complete opposite of N's, and Ghetsis admits that N's role was nothing more than a mere front.

Angered by Ghetsis's callousness, Black swears to defeat the sage. Observing that Eelektross is fighting two of his Pokémon, Black calls to Brav to break free, and the Valiant Pokémon barely manages to retaliate. The attempt allows Costa to free Musha from Cofagrigus's clutches, letting Musha eat Black's dreams to discover the source of Hydreigon's fire: a Volcarona hiding in the light of the setting sun. With Brav using Whirlwind to clear out Volcarona's fiery scales, Black orders his Pokémon to switch targets, hitting Ghetsis's team on their weaknesses and knocking them all out. Ghetsis is aghast that even Volcarona fell so quickly, having had it and a Larvesta Egg retrieved from the Relic Castle, but Black orders Costa to imprison Ghetsis in a cage of Stone Edge, declaring the end of Ghetsis's ambitions.

Meanwhile, Hood Man continues observing the Forces of Nature reflected in his mirror, frustrated that they have yet to change forms. He decides that the solution must lie in a different mirror; noticing that Ghetsis has been defeated, he returns the three Legendary Pokémon and bids the Elite Four farewell, beating a hasty retreat. As Black ponders on what to do with Ghetsis, he is greeted by White, having found her way to the throne room, and the two friends reunite.
