In [[Granite Cave]], {{adv|Sapphire}} prepares with [[Chic]] and [[Rono]] for her upcoming Gym battle. She has the two of them fight the wild {{p|Zubat}}, {{p|Golbat}}, {{p|Geodude}}, and {{p|Graveler}} living in the cave. From their brief conversation earlier, Sapphire knows that if she fought [[Brawly]] as she is now, she'd lose the fight. She apologizes to [[Mr. Stone]] for not delivering the letter immediately, but since it's the only time she can fight Brawly, she has to finish tonight. | |||
Later, Sapphire arrives at the [[Dewford Gym]], where she finds Brawly waiting for her inside. The two start their match, with Brawly sending out his {{p|Machop}}.
