In {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s|Ruby, Sapphire}}, {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire|Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire}}, Team Magma{{sup/3|Ru}}{{sup/6|OR}} or Team Aqua{{sup/3|Sa}}{{sup/6|AS}} will steal the Blue Orb{{sup/3|Ru}}{{sup/6|AS}} or the Red Orb{{sup/3|Sa}}{{sup/6|OR}} from the summit of Mt. Pyre and use it to awaken {{p|Groudon}}{{sup/3|Ru}}{{sup/6|OR}} or {{p|Kyogre}}{{sup/3|Sa}}{{sup/6|AS}}. In [[Generation III]], after the Legendary Pokémon is subdued, the player can return to the summit to watch [[Maxie]]{{sup/3|Ru}} or [[Archie]]{{sup/3|Sa}} return the orb to its proper place, after which the player returns their own orb, and the [[villainous team]]'s leader departs; Team Aqua and Team Magma are afterwards not seen for the rest of the game.

[[Phoebe]] of the Elite Four trains at Mt. Pyre. After the Delta Episode, the player can find Phoebe near the summit, talking to spirits. She says she came to visit her grandmother, upon whom the [[player character]] made a lasting impression.

Mt. Pyre first appeared in ''[[PS228|I'm Always Grumpig First Thing in the Morning II]]'', where [[Tate and Liza]] were shown to be on guard duty at the summit in place of the old couple, thus preventing them from attending the emergency [[Gym Leader]] meeting at [[Fortree City]]. They were attacked by {{tc|Magma Admin}} [[Blaise]], who used his fire illusions to distract the twins and easily steal the [[Red Orb|Red]] and [[Blue Orb]]s.

In ''[[PS327|Facing Gulpin Is Hard to Swallow]]'', it was revealed that [[Spenser]] had once visited Mt. Pyre in his younger days. Despite the Red and Blue Orbs being forbidden to be touched by anybody, Spenser had been unable to resist the beauty of the Blue Orb, and had ended up touching it. As a result, he had started having nightmares featuring {{p|Kyogre}}.

* The summit of Mt. Pyre is [[fog]]gy, but the fog has no in-battle effect. This is because fog was not used as a {{cat|game mechanics|game mechanic}} until [[Generation IV]].

* When looking from the outside, there appears to be nothing at the summit. However, going through Mt. Pyre will reveal that there is. A similar situation occurs with [[Navel Rock]].

* In {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}}, a man on the second floor mentions that the ground used to be full of holes where one could fall into. This is a [[List of cross-generational references|reference]] to [[Generation III]], where presumably the same man complains of having gotten hurt while falling down from one of the holes, which no longer exist in [[Generation VI]].

* In {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}}, the old lady at the summit of Mt. Pyre is missing in the post-game, and the old man is standing alone.
