Morpeko (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Morpeko may be based on the {{wp|golden hamster}} with some elements of a {{wp|guinea pig}}. Like Morpeko, hamsters are known for biting and exhibiting violent {{wp|Territory (animal)|territorial behavior}} if left untreated, {{wp|Hoarding (animal behavior)|hoarding food}}, and having incredibly high {{wp|metabolism}}s, hence its Dark-type and [[Hunger Switch (Ability)|Hangry Mode]]. It may also be based on the Norway lemming, as it shares similar color scheme and similar behavior. Its [[Signature move|signature move]] {{m|Aura Wheel}} may be a reference to {{wp|hamster wheel}}s. Its color scheme may be inspired by the broken color pattern found in many {{wp|List of guinea pig breeds|guinea pig breeds}}. The pockets it stores seeds in probably reference the cheek pouches many rodents have, including hamsters. The fact that is known as the Two-Sided Pokémon and can change into two forms, one of which is violent and evil, may be a reference to {{wp|Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (character)|Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde}}, a character written by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. The electric rodent design may come from tradition of creating a variant of Pokémon franchise main mascot, {{p|Pikachu}}, in every generation.
