Gyarados is officially a Gym Pokémon, and is thus not solely in Misty's custody. However, she has been seen using it the most. In A Togepi Mirage!, when Misty visited Ash in Hoenn, she used Gyarados to defeat Colonel Hansen's Shedinja with Flamethrower. It also appeared briefly in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, where Misty used it to battle against Dr. Yung's Mirage Mewtwo, which, however, was way too strong for the Atrocious Pokémon.
Gyarados was officially a Gym Pokémon, but after Misty earned its thrust it decided to listen solely to her creating special bond with its trainer. She often takes him when leaving gym such as in A Togepi Mirage!, when Misty visited Ash in Hoenn, she used Gyarados to defeat Colonel Hansen's Shedinja with Flamethrower. It also appeared briefly in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, where Misty used it to battle against Dr. Yung's Mirage Mewtwo, which, however, was way too strong for the Atrocious Pokémon.
