-In the movie ''Mewtwo Strikes Back,'' Mewtwo lures many Pokémon trainers into a trap. He then takes all their Pokémon, using strange Pokéballs with eyes on them. After he captures [[Ash]]'s [[Pikachu]], [[Ash]] runs after it, trying to get it. Ash runs into the cloning machine, pulling Pikachu out. Then, the machine explodes, releasing all of the uncloned Pokémon. Then, all the Pokémon go into a 1-on-1 battle, ending with Ash jumping between Mewtwo and [[Mew]], becoming petrified. When all the trainers and Pokémon start crying, he is healed. Mewtwo realises this, and runs off along with all his Pokémon. He arrives at [[Cerulean Cave]], and all his clones become even stronger due to the lack of trainers.
