'''Littleroot Town''' (Japanese: '''ミシロタウン''' ''Mishiro Town'') is one of the the sixteen cities of [[Hoenn]], the land in which the games {{3v2|Ruby|Sapphire|Emerald}} take place. Littleroot Town is where {{player}}s of [[Generation III]] games, as well as several other notable {{pkmn|Trainer}}s, start their Pokémon journeys in Hoenn.

The only exit of the town is north, which leads to {{rt|101|Hoenn}} and [[Oldale Town]] beyond.

In the southwest corner of town is [[Professor Birch]]'s Laboratory. Here, Pokémon trainers just beginning their quest can receive either a {{p|Treecko}}, {{p|Torchic}}, or {{p|Mudkip}} from Professor Birch. Instead of obtaining the player's [[starter Pokémon]] here, the player must gain it on {{rt|101|Hoenn}} while saving Professor Birch during the storyline. Professor Birch's assistant often looks after the laboratory by himself because Professor Birch likes doing field work instead of being inside his laboratory. Professor Birch's house is also located in the northwest (or northeast, depending on the player's gender) side of the town.

This is the house where the {{player}} lives before beginning his/her journey. The game begins with {{ga|Brendan|him}} or {{ga|May|her}} moving into Littleroot from the [[Johto]] region. The male character lives in the house on the left, while the female character lives in the house on the right. The player's mom lives here, while [[Norman]], the player's father, drops by and stays a while. After the player has left town for the first time, going home and talking to Mom will fully rest/restore all of the player's Pokémon, just like a [[Pokémon Center]].  

There are two levels, the first being a living room and kitchen area, while upstairs on the second level is where the [[Bedroom|player's bedroom]] is kept. It contains a clock that the player must set at the start of the game to keep track of the [[time]], a [[Nintendo GameCube]] with a [[Game Boy Advance]] hooked up to it as a controller, and a [[PC]] to store [[item]]s and {{OBP|Pokémon|species}}. The rug can be decorated with [[Pokémon doll|Poké Doll]]s.

[[Brendan]] lives in the house on the left, while [[May]] lives in the house on the right. The rival's house is similar to the {{player}}'s house.

In {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s}}, Littleroot Town's population is 8 (excluding the {{player}} and the [[rival]]). This means that it is the smallest town in [[Hoenn]].

In {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s}}, no Pokémon can be found or obtained found here, as Professor Birch give the player their [[starter Pokémon]] on {{rt|101|Hoenn}}. In {{game|Emerald}}, [[Professor Birch]] hands the player one of the [[Johto]] [[starter Pokémon|starters]] after completing the regional [[Pokédex]].

In the anime, Littleroot Town is first seen in ''[[AG001|Get the Show on the Road!]]'', it is where {{Ash}} meets {{an|May}} and [[Professor Birch]] for the first time while trying to save his [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]]. {{an|May}}, who lives in [[Petalburg City]], comes to get her starter. It is also the hometown of {{jo|Harrison}}.

Strangely, Littleroot Town in the anime is shown as quite a large town with a couple of tall buildings and towers. It also shows  Littleroot Town as having a port, despite being clearly landlocked in the maps of both the game and anime.

*The town's motto is a reference to how in {{3v2|Red|Blue|Yellow}} all the towns were named after colors, and how the games of Generations I and II caused the towns to be very lacking in any but one color so as to preserve the palette.

*Unlike previous Pokémon games, in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the player does not receive their starter Pokémon within the town itself, instead doing so upon rescuing [[Professor Birch]] on {{rt|101|Hoenn}}. However, this trend is continued in {{3v2|Diamond|Pearl|Platinum}}.

*The [[television]] inside the player's house plays a different program than the others. When walking up to it, it says "There is a movie on TV. Two men are dancing on a big piano keyboard.", whereas any other TV in [[Hoenn]] will say "MOM/DAD might like this program..........................."

**The movie playing may be the 1988 Tom Hanks film {{wp|Big}}.

*As Hoenn coincides with {{wp|Kyushu}}, the location of Littleroot coincides with the city of {{wp|Sasebo}}.
