Mew palette

This palette is also used for the large sprites of all Pokémon Trainers (including the player Red), as well as Professor Oak. It is also used for all the Pokémon icons at the party, nickname, and trade screens. In the Virtual Console releases of Pokémon Yellow, Jynx's skin was changed to be purple, probably related to controversies related to it being black.

In the new game intro, this palette is also used for NidorinoRGB and PikachuY.

Nidorino and Pikachu in new game

Intro and usual colour palette comparison of Pikachu and Nidorino in Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Red
Main article: New game → Color palette (Generation I)

In the new game intro cutscene from the Generation I games, NidorinoRGB and PikachuY use the Mew palette instead of their usual color palettes, resulting in slightly different colors than in main gameplay (when played on systems that render color palettes, as opposed to monochrome systems such as the original Game Boy where they appear identical).
