Some items are specific to a certain region, while others can be found in both [[Kanto]] and [[Hoenn]]. Through [[cheating|hacking]], Hoenn-exclusive Key Items can be obtained (though they will have no use) in the Kanto-based games, while Kanto-exclusive Key Items can be obtained in {{game|Emerald}} (likewise to no use). The [[Mach Bike]] and [[Acro Bike]], though they can be used as the normal [[Bicycle]] in FireRed and LeafGreen, will not be recognized by the game as the Bicycle, and so will not allow the player to enter {{ka|Cycling Road}} normally. The normal Bicycle, however, cannot be used in Emerald at all. All items, regardless of being legitimately obtainable or not, will have an item description and, from FireRed and LeafGreen onward, a sprite.
