Korban and Harmony Shoney

Korban (Japanese: ショウギ・カクベエ Kakubee Shōgi) and Harmony Shoney (Japanese: ショウギ・ヒシャ子 Hishako Shōgi) are two characters of the day who appeared in Showdown at Linoone. They live on Giban Island with their son, Kimmy Shoney.

They love their son, but grew concerned because his Linoone, Tokin, who kept running off to steal objects and didn't seem to want to be around Kimmy anymore.

When Tokin took May's Poké Balls, Korban and Harmony helped search for them, along with Ash and his friends. Although they didn't find the Poké Balls in any of Tokin's hiding places, Harmony found her missing ring, which had also been taken by Tokin. Upon finding it, both danced around happily, much to Kimmy's embarrassment.

Trivia

  • Their Japanese family name comes from the traditional Japanese game Shogi, also known as Japanese Chess. Korban's first name in Japanese comes from 角 kaku (Bishop), one of the figures from that game. Harmony's Japanese name is taken from 飛車 hisha (Rook), another figure. Similarly, Kimmy's and his Linoone's Japanese names are derived from Shogi figures as well.
