Jolteon (Japanese: サンダース Thunders) is an Electric Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee by Thunderstone.
It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

Biology
Biology
Jolteon is the result of exposing an Eevee to the radiation of a Thunderstone.

Physiology
Jolteon is a quadrupedal, mammalian Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with a spiky fringe around its tail and a white ruff around its neck. Its ears are large and pointed with black interiors, and its eyes and small nose are black. It has slender legs and small paws, each with three toes and a pink paw-pad.
Jolteon is a Fennec Fox-like Pokémon with a very short tail, surrounded by a fringe of spikes on its rear, and yellow fur that has the sharpness of needles (Glaceon shares this same trait, but it's not as obvious). Jolteon also has a white, spiky collar, and pink paw pads.

Gender differences
Jolteon creates electricity using an organ in its lungs, which causes crackling noises as it exhales. It can also generate low-level electricity in its cells, which is amplified by the negative ions it gathers and generates in its fur, allowing it to discharge 10,000-volt lightning bolts. Jolteon's prickly fur is made of electrically charged needles, which create a sparking noise as it moves. It is capable of launching its fur at enemies when agitated or startled; the charge is so powerful that it can remain on the shed fur for a long time. This Pokémon is most often found in List of Pokémon by habitat under the ownership of Trainers. However, its high-strung nature and tendency toward mood swings can make it difficult to train. As mentioned in Sleep, the crackling sound of electricity can be heard while Jolteon exhales during its slumber.
None.

Special abilities
Evolution
Jolteon can use the same attacks that Eevee could use, with the addition of the ability to wield electrical attacks, as well as Double Kick and Pin Missile. For gathering power for electric attacks, it accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere, charges power when its mood changes, or amplifies the weak electric charge of its cells with the static electricity of its electrically-charged needle fur. As a fully evolved Pokémon, Jolteon can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Jolteon evolves from Eevee.

Behavior
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data&rarr;Evolution data.)
Jolteon are sensitive Pokémon and easily become sad or angry. Every time its mood changes, it charges power. If startled or angered, it can shoot out bristles that are sharp enough to pierce opponents. Every hair on its body starts to stand sharply on end if it becomes charged with electricity, and the negatively charged ions in its fur create a constant sparking noise. Its fur also stands on end if it is angry or startled.

Habitat
|type1=Electric

|pictype=art
Jolteon usually are found near power plants. Due to the need of a Thunderstone to evolve from Eevee, not many are found. But because it's an Eevee evolution, it can adapt almost anywhere.

Major Appearances
</div>
Jolteon first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers, under the ownership of Eevee brothers.

In Get Along, Little Pokémon, Ethan used a Jolteon as a "sheep dog" of sorts. Whenever any of Ethan's Magnemite tried to escape, Jolteon would use Thunder Wave to lure them back.

Jolteon was also seen under the ownership of one of the Kimono Sisters in Trouble's Brewing and Espeon Not Included.

Minor Appearances
Ash battled against a Jolteon in the Pokémon League Entrance Exam in The Ultimate Test.

Jolteon is one of the Electric-type Pokémon that was seen in the lake with crystal in As Clear As Crystal.

Jolteon made a small cameo in the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior together with an Eevee and the other six Eeveelutions.

Trivia
Trivia
* Jolteon is the lightest Eeveelution and is tied with Glaceon for the shortest. It also has the highest Speed base stat of the Eeveelutions with a base speed of 130.
* In English, the category "Lightning Pokémon" is shared by Jolteon and Electrike.
** This makes Jolteon the smallest Eeveelution.
* If a Thunder Stone is used on a paralyzed Eevee to evolve it into Jolteon, the paralysis will not be removed.
* Jolteon is the third fastest non-legendary Pokémon after Ninjask and Electrode, tied with Crobat and Aerodactyl.
** In Japanese, Jolteon has the category かみなりポケモン Kaminari Pokémon (Lightning Pokémon), while Electrike has the category いなずまポケモン Inazuma Pokémon (Lightning Pokémon).
* Jolteon is the only Eeveelution without an obvious tail. However, in the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, it is shown to have a stubby tail under its spikes.
* Jolteon's and Zapdos's Japanese names are almost exactly identical, with a final ~ス ~s being the only difference.
* Jolteon shares the same species name with Electrike. They are both known as Lightning Pokémon.

Concept and development
Jolteon was designed by Motofumi Fujiwara.

Origin
Origin
It has traits of porcupines, coyotes, foxes and cats. It may also be inspired by the raiju.
Jolteon's physical anatomy seems to be primarily based on a herding dog or possibly a fennec fox, with several traits of coyotes. It also resembles jackrabbits and other types of hares, or felines such as the serval and the cheetah; the latter is known for being the fastest land animal, which may be alluded to with Jolteon's speed. Its needle-like fur may derive from porcupines, while its ability to launch its fur may be inspired by the myth that porcupines are able to shoot out their quills when threatened.

Additionally, Jolteon may have been inspired by the raijū, a beast from Japanese mythology whose body is made of lightning, and may take the form of a dog.

Name origin
Name origin
Jolteon's name is derived from jolt. The -eon suffix, common to all Eevee evolutions, comes from Eevee's prototype English name and possibly refers to the ending suffix of evolution itself. Its Japanese name is a corruption of thunder, which happens to be Zapdos's Japanese name.
Jolteon may be a combination of jolt and eon (an immeasurably long period of time, possibly referring to how long evolution takes naturally). Eon is a suffix all Eevee evolutions share and was Eevee's English prototype name.

Thunders is literally thunders.
