Infatuation
Infatuation (Japanese: メロメロ Mad Love) is a volatile status condition introduced in Generation II, which causes the affected Pokémon to be unable to use moves half the time.

If an infatuated Pokémon attempts to use a move, it will fail 50% of the time, even when targeting Pokémon other than the one it is infatuated with. This failed move does not spend PP.
If a Pokémon attempts to use the consecutively executed moves Outrage, Petal Dance, Rollout, or Thrash, but fails in any turn because of infatuation, the move will be interrupted. This also prevents the user from becoming confused after the move's last turn, except from Generation V onwards the user still becomes confused if interrupted when would be the last turn nonetheless.
In Generation II and III, if the Pokémon is infatuated, confused, and paralyzed at the same time, it checks the statuses in the order of confusion, infatuation, and paralyzed.
In Generation IV, it checks in the order of confusion, paralyzed, and infatuation.
The Terastallized opponent in a Tera Raid Battle cannot be infatuated by any means.
Causes
Infatuation is caused when Attract is used on a target of the opposite gender, G-Max Cuddle is used by Gigantamax Eevee on all opponents of the opposite gender, may be caused when a Pokémon makes contact with a Pokémon of the opposite gender that has Cute Charm as its Ability, and is caused to a Pokémon that infatuates a Pokémon holding a Destiny Knot.
A gender-unknown Pokémon is unable to infatuate or be infatuated by any known means. Infatuation cannot be passed with Baton Pass.

Infatuation ends as soon as either the affected Pokémon or the Pokémon it is infatuated with is removed from the battle.
As long as a Pokémon is already infatuated, it is immune to new infatuation attempts (including any attempts to change the infatuation target from a Pokémon to another).
Pokémon with the Oblivious Ability are immune to infatuation. If a Pokémon receives Oblivious in battle (such as from Skill Swap), it is cured of infatuation. If a Pokémon with Oblivious is infatuated while holding a Destiny Knot, this item will be activated before Oblivious cures this Pokémon of infatuation.
If a Pokémon is infatuated while holding a Mental Herb or an Eggant Berry, the item will be consumed and the infatuation will end.
In Generation III, if a Pokémon with Oblivious is holding a Mental Herb or an Eggant Berry, this Ability will take priority and the item will not be consumed. From Generation IV onwards, the item will be consumed before Oblivious has a chance to take effect.
A Pokémon's infatuation ends if it uses Refresh or Rest. If the player plays a Red Flute, their Pokémon's infatuation ends.
Glitches
Transform gender change glitch

In Generation II, if the opposing Pokémon uses a glitch to change its own gender when it is already infatuated with an opposite-gender Pokémon, the infatuation remains (as a same-gender infatuation).
This is doable if the opponent (a wild or non-player character's Pokémon) uses Transform twice in the same battle, which causes its DVs to be replaced by the player's Pokémon's DVs, and a result its gender changes if the correct DVs for the opposite gender are copied.
In spin-off games
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, infatuation can be caused by Attract, Cute Charm, as well as by eating or being hit by a Decoy Seed. Unlike in the core series games, infatuation is not cured if the Pokémon causing the infatuation faints.
In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, and Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, infatuation lasts 5 to 6 turns. The infatuated Pokémon is unable to do anything. If in the middle of a linked move, the rest of the linked move is skipped.
Since Gates to Infinity, infatuation lasts 6 turns. The infatuated Pokémon has a one in two chance of being unable to use a move.
In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games where genders are not a gameplay mechanic, Attract and Cute Charm are able to infatuate any Pokémon (even those whose gender is unknown in the core series games).

In Rough, Tough Jigglypuff, a then-wild Jigglypuff used its Cute Charm Ability to make Mitch Mitchum's Loudred infatuated with it after the latter hit it with Mega Punch.
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
In Some Enchanted Sweetening!, Cheryl's Chansey used Attract to make a then-wild Burmy infatuated with her.
In Battling The Generation Gap!, during the Celestic Town Pokémon Contest, Lila's Delcatty used his Cute Charm Ability to make Dawn's Ambipom infatuated with him after she hit him with Focus Punch.
In Strategy Begins at Home!, Dawn's Piplup and Pachirisu became infatuated with Johanna's Glameow and Umbreon after they both used Attract on them, leaving them open to be defeated by a dual Swift attack.
In DPS02, Brock's Sudowoodo became infatuated with Nurse Joy's Chansey after she used Attract on him, leading to his defeat.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness
Gabite uses Attract on Sunflora who becomes infatuated with him.
Pokémon the Series: Black & White
In Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!, a Snivy that Ash was trying to catch used Attract to make Ash's Pikachu, Oshawott, and Tepig infatuated with her. Ash was only able to overcome this by sending out his Pidove, who could not be affected by Snivy's use of Attract due to being a female just like Snivy.
In A Rival Battle for Club Champ!, Snivy used Attract on Trip's Servine to make him infatuated with her, leading to his defeat soon after.
In Minccino—Neat and Tidy!, Ash's Snivy and a then-wild Minccino became infatuated with each other after they both used Attract.
In Emolga the Irresistible!, Ash's Oshawott became infatuated with a then-wild Emolga after taking an Attract attack that was meant for Bianca's Minccino.
In Dazzling the Nimbasa Gym!, during Ash's Nimbasa Gym battle against Elesa, Ash's Palpitoad became infatuated with Elesa's Emolga after she used Attract on him, leading to his defeat.
In Battling the King of the Mines!, during Ash's Driftveil Gym battle against Clay, Ash's Snivy used Attract to make Clay's Palpitoad infatuated with her, allowing her to defeat him with a flurry of super-effective Grass-type moves.
In Mission: Defeat Your Rival!, during the second round of the Vertress Conference, Bianca's Emboar used Attract to make Cameron's Samurott infatuated with him, allowing him to defeat her despite the type disadvantage.
Pokémon the Series: XY
In Kindergarten Chaos!, Penelope's Sylveon used Attract to make Ash's Froakie infatuated with it, allowing the Intertwining Pokémon to defeat it with Draining Kiss.
In Master Class Choices!, during the Fleurrh Showcase Rookie Class, Amelia's Espeon and Shiny Dragonair used Attract to make a herd of Rhyhorn infatuated with them.
In Valuable Experience for All!, during the Lumiose Conference quarterfinals, Tierno's Raichu became infatuated with Sawyer's Slurpuff after he used Attract on her, leaving her open to be hit by an Energy Ball. This forced Tierno to switch her out in favor of Blastoise.

In The Sweet Taste of Battle!, Ash's Pikachu became infatuated with Opal's Alcremie after she used Attract on him.
